Hooking amp remote turn on to digital mp3 player

im trying to hook up a mp3 player with no amp turn on to a marine amp. this is for an electronic snow goose caller. should i just jumper the positive 12 v in to the remote turn on input? the unit will only be hooked to a battery when in use. thanks
