DRM-free tracks from EMI will be offered at higher quality 256 kbps AAC encoding, resulting in audio quality indistinguishable from the original recording. [Apr 2] This narrows the gap between HiFi and iPod. 245 kbps is very close to CD-quality. The entire EMI Music Catalogue includes, for example, The Beatles. I think this announcement heralds a change in the way in which many people acquire and listen to recorded music. |
