Nikon's second-generation pico-projector DSC will hit the market as early as August, the sources noted. Meanwhile, a digital camera with a DLP micro-projector co-developed by Asia Optical and Texas Instruments (TI) will start volume shipments in September, the sources added. Asia Optical expects to ship 200,000-250,000 pico projector modules for Microvision's SHOWWX pico projectors in 2010 and 100,000 built-in pico projector modules for other vendors for the year, the company said. Asia Optical expects to ship eight million handset-use pico projector modules based on DLP technology in 2011 and 12 million units in 2012. The price of a 11cc DLP light engine module was about US$65-100 in 2009, the sources said. The price is expected to drop to US$50-85 in 2010 with the size shrinking to 8 cc, the sources noted. The price of a 10cc LCoS light engine module was about NT$65 in 2009, but the price will be reduced to US$30-50 and the size to 4.5 cc in 2010, the sources said. http://pcbpartner.com/show.html?key=20081218000000000009&language=en¤tpage =1 |
