I have a Sony dcr-hc39e camcorder, and want to take the video footage onto my PC. I have a firewire cable (I-Link) to connect to my PC, but where do I go from there? Sony dont appear to provide any software? If you have a VAIO laptop, software on there allows it but its OEM software preinstalled.
Any ideas? Some software that will do the capturing for me?
Ive tried capturing, using ULead amongst others, and can only do MPEG/AVI/WMV at 640/480, and what I want is proper DVD quality, for playback on a TV.
How can I do this? As I stated in a previous post, you can do it if you own a Sony VAIO using pre-installed software, it writes direct to the DVD with no quality loss.
HELP! TIA Alan

I have just bought this camcorder myself. I use Pinnacle studio and plug the firewire into the docking station. Pinnacle picks it up and has full contrul using this. Hope this helps.
