Gold Member Username: Project6Post Number: 2715 Registered: Dec-03 | For taking extra long exposures and to keep the pictures from blurring when taking said extra long exposures. When the mirror on a SLR goes up and donw to expose the scene to the sensor or film, it causes a vibration and translate to the final picture. |

New member Username: Vlkers7171Downers Grove, Illinois Usa Post Number: 5 Registered: Feb-05 | thanks...To my knowledge I am related to no one in the USAF Spec Ops. Ill ask my parents though, you never know. Thanks, Keith Vlk |
Anonymous | The Nikon D70 does have MLU, what are you guys talking about. |
Gold Member Username: Project6Post Number: 2753 Registered: Dec-03 | Yes, you can have the mirror lock up when cleaning the sensor. But in this case, Steve is probably refering to a mirror lock up or pre-release when taking extended long exposures. |
Anonymous | Oh, yes no pre-release for the D70, maybe the next fireware update will take care of that. Sorry didnt mean to be harsh. |
Anonymous | "firmware" |

New member Username: Vlkers7171Downers Grove, Illinois Usa Post Number: 9 Registered: Feb-05 | 144 I believe...i'll wait for berny to verify this |
New member Username: Vlkers7171Downers Grove, Illinois Usa Post Number: 10 Registered: Feb-05 | ok....maybe its a 12..but you can write up to 144 continuous..i dont know...I just got mine |
Gold Member Username: Project6Post Number: 2768 Registered: Dec-03 | At 3 fps it is about 12 images. On RAW mode it is only 4. But if you are using normal jpg it can go up to 144 if you are using a fast card. Keith, I see you are reading the manual! Lots of info, whew! |
Bronze Member Username: Vlkers7171Downers Grove, Illinois Usa Post Number: 11 Registered: Feb-05 | the manual is sooo long. But i figured since i spent the money i might as well take the time to understand all the features. |
Bronze Member Username: Vlkers7171Downers Grove, Illinois Usa Post Number: 12 Registered: Feb-05 | berny....is there a cable release for the D70. Someone told me there was only a remote release through the IR sensor |
Gold Member Username: Project6Post Number: 2779 Registered: Dec-03 | Nope, no cable release. You use a hand held remote ML-L3. You can get it for less than $20. |
Bronze Member Username: Vlkers7171Downers Grove, Illinois Usa Post Number: 13 Registered: Feb-05 | thanks....can you control the length of the shutter like a cable release can? |
Gold Member Username: Project6Post Number: 2786 Registered: Dec-03 | Yes you can. You can even control it by clicking the remote to open the shutter and then clicking it again to close it. |
Bronze Member Username: Vlkers7171Downers Grove, Illinois Usa Post Number: 14 Registered: Feb-05 | amazing....I want to get some cool night shots with like 2 minute exposures...So I need something like that...Thanks man |
Gold Member Username: Project6Post Number: 2788 Registered: Dec-03 | I believe you can also use a programmable TV remote as your trigger. I have heard a few that tried it and apparently it works. There was a time when the ML-L3 remote was sooo hard to find. A lot of people were scrambling around for something else to use during the shortage. |
chrissu Unregistered guest | How do I get my ML-L3 remote to work with my D70? |
Gold Member Username: Project6Post Number: 2813 Registered: Dec-03 | page 107-110 of your D70 Manual. |
