It's incredible. Nothing short of the best racing simulation game I've ever played. My friend and I bought it and the graphics and the little details are just impressive. Highly recommend it to anyone.
Been saying that about GT since its' birth. Been reading some reviews on the latest version and I get a "love it or hate it" feeling. While the graphics and real time feedback are second to none some say the differences are more technical and only the die hard GT heads can appreciate it.
I couldn't care less. I've always loved the razor sharp graphics, fine tuning of the vehicles' mechanics and superb stability it has always offered. Watching a replay is as close to the real thing as you can imagine. My only gripe has been the license requirements needed to acquire tracks and ultimately the top end exotic cars. I figure that if I paid for it I should be able to enjoy the whole game out of the box.
GT5 is on my Xmas list and will be purchased shortly after if I don't receive it as a gift.
I can agree with that Paul. I've always been a GT fan myself so I really enjoy this new one. But at the same time, if someone doesn't enjoy the time and effort you have to put into the game to be good or get to the nicer cars, then it's understandable. My buddy and I have about 25 hours invested since it came out and we are level 15 in A-Spec and level 4 in B-Spec. It's not an easy game at all and requires a lot of time lol.
Well on earlier versions I just found the cheat codes and bought every car lol. Not sure if any cheats are out yet for GT5. Eventually there will be.
Some of the courses and track times are just torturous to master for the licenses. You literally have NO room for even the simplest error and you have to start over.
Now if only Sony and Microsuck would team up and produce a flight simulator for the PS3, I'd be in heaven. Pair up the graphics, speed, reality and stability of GT with the enormous depth and enjoyability of a flight simulator and you'd have the best selling game of the year. (Outside of all the blood and gore games of course lol).
If I had a ps3 I would own it myself. last year my g/f pulled out her old ps2 and she had the last installment of gran turismo, I guess number 4, and I was addicted for a while haha. The new one looks amazing. Here is a review IGN did on it recently:
In earlier versions there were so many cars available you could almost pick the car that sits in your driveway and race it. While there are obvious advances in GT5 there are, however, apparent drawbacks. Nothing is perfect. That's life.
