He made it two shots past the rumple minze and started talking fuzzy, then went down. Woke up in kitty litter. Don't know how.

Saturday, October 24, 2009 - 03:59 GMT Damn. my room mate just said i was an alcoholic.... Im srsly startin to think I might be headed for alcoholism. In the past 2 weeks there hasn't been a single daythat I have't had at least one drink. I just realized that Im always happy/jolly when drinkin'and always mad at the world when sober. In the past few days I have been seriously thinking about it. I may be headed for serious trouble.

Saturday, October 24, 2009 - 13:12 GMT I don't know you well enough to make that judgement. I was just joking cause it seems like all your posts are like "LETS GET SOME DRINKS!!!" But if you're drinking every day, and it's noticeable even to YOU that it affects your mood that much, I'd say those are pretty good signs of some dependency.

Saturday, October 24, 2009 - 15:45 GMT My Father (along with almost every other man) used to stop by the club he belonged to every night after work. Shot pool, drank glass after glass of beer, threw darts, ect, for hours. Came home after 10pm. THAT was in the early 70's and my Mother accepted it as well as society in general. It got to the point where he built his own bar in the gameroom just so he could invite his pals over on the weekend. My Mother was very passive and as long as they both went out Saturday night she went with the flow, so to speak. I realized late after I built my first bar it was so he felt comfortable coming over. Everyone just relaxes in my family holding a drink. Be it a beer, glass of wine or even just a Pepsi. My sis loves it because it gives her a reason to turn into Betty Crocker and cook away. It's a social thing and something we used as an excuse to get together every Saturday night. We would play cards, board games or just shoot the sh1t. My Father has since stopped drinking anything alcoholic and my Sister and her family moved away. My Dad said he simply didn't want it anymore. His was a social addiction, not chemical. He drank consistently for 40 years and he stopped pretty much overnight and it didn't phase him a bit. No health issues either. Some, like an old buddy of mine, had the worst kind of alcohol addiction. He drank to get drunk, fast. Mean drunk too. Hated cops. (Bad combo). I'd pick him up at work at 11:30pm and get to the bar by midnight. By last call at 1:30 he had downed 10 beers and was picking up a 12 pack for the ride home. We were BSing by the river one night and he was forcing himself to yak, just so his stomach had enough room to drink some more. THAT was when he was 23? Haven't a clue where he is now. Wicked I don't believe ALL the hype and pre diagnosis of a problem with alcohol. Yes you CAN have a drink alone, in the morning or in front of your kids without feeling guilty. It's all about moderation and intent. What's your intent with opening the first beer? MUST it continue until you're either smashed or out of booze?

Not a problem. quote: I just realized that Im always happy/jolly when drinkin'and always mad at the world when sober.

Alcohol in moderation can not only be acceptable, it can be a great thing. No argument there. Studies clearly show that people who drink casually tend to have better job success, social skills, connections with new people etc. Nothing wrong with that. It's a matter of dependency in my opinion. If you NEED it to be social, if you NEED it to relax, if you're "mad at the world" without it, it's a problem. Yes, even if you're not getting drunk per se. My old man hasn't gotten DRUNK in probably three decades. And I don't consider him an alcoholic. But does he have an alcohol dependency? Absolutely. Every day soon as he gets home from work he'll walk to his fridge and pour a beer or make a drink or whatever. He wouldn't admit it, but he absolutely depends on it to unwind/relax, much like the dependencies of cigarette smokers or coffee drinkers (dependencies that aren't viewed as being problems). And he seriously doesn't even drink enough to not be able to drive safely! But the dependency is there.

Saturday, October 24, 2009 - 20:48 GMT My ex girlfriend's sister died of alcoholism. They found her on the floor of her kitchen. I don't want to mask all the signs of a problem but I simply don't agree with them all. Hiding empty bottles = problem. Missing work steadily from drinking = problem. Sleeping in your clothes, waking up on the floor, forgetting how you got home all = problem IMO. No question. I'm not talking about the party drunk but the ones making a living out of it. My ex wife's current boyfriend can and will go as long as a month dry. Then he'll vanish for 4-5 straight days. Broke, beaten and wearing the same clothes he makes his way home, sometimes without the vehicle he left in! Her dumbazz keeps letting him in. He vanishes because he needs his fix and can't do it in front of anyone. At least at first that's how it went. Now her own parents can't stop by unannounced because she's afraid they'll see him sprawled out on the couch and house smelling like a brewery. Binge drinking is far more damaging than your every day drinker. It gets much more extreme on the body and everyone's lives involved. Oh we are definitely an addictive species Pit. Be it booze, cigs, p0rn, drugs, gambling or even dating the wrong person lol. Some are addicted to coffee and because it's a common product they don't feel they have an addiction. There are some who drink it every waking moment of their lives. Try asking them to go without it even for a day though and they'll stab you in the temple with a ball point pen. Fly the right path Wicked and know your limits. Another day wasted is just that.
