Platinum Member Username: WingmanaliveA pic is worth 1000 posts!! Post Number: 15959 Registered: Jun-06 | I got this today. Some of you may have already. It's....whatever. > worth reading and be sure and look at the picture. > > John McCain's remarks about the Pledge of Allegiance > > In light of the recent appeals court ruling in California , with respect to the Pledge of Allegiance, the following recollection from Senator John McCain is very appropriate: > > > 'The Pledge of Allegiance' - by Senator John McCain > > 'As you may know, I spent five and one half years as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. In the early years of our imprisonment, the NVA kept us in solitary confinement or two or three to a cell. In 1971 the NVA moved us from these conditions of isolation into large rooms with as many as 30 to 40 men to a room. > > This was, as you can imagine, a wonderful change and was a direct result of the efforts of millions of Americans on behalf of a few hundred POWs 10,000 miles from home. > > One of the men who moved into my room was a young man named Mike Christian. > > Mike came from a small town near Selma , Alabama . He didn't wear a pair of shoes until he was 13 years old. At 17, he enlisted in the US Navy. He later earned a commission by going to Officer Training School Then he became a Naval Flight Officer and was shot down and captured in 1967. Mike had a keen and deep appreciation of the opportunities this country and our military provide for people who want to work and want to succeed. > > As part of the change in treatment, the Vietnamese allowed some prisoners to receive packages from home. In some of these packages were handkerchiefs, scarves and other items of clothing. > > Mike got himself a bamboo needle. Over a period of a couple of months, he created an American flag and sewed on the inside of his shirt. > > Every afternoon, before we had a bowl of soup, we would hang Mike's shirt on the wall of the cell and say the Pledge of Allegiance. > > I know the Pledge of Allegiance may not seem the most important part of our day now, but I can assure you that in that stark cell it was indeed the most important and meaningful event. > > One day the Vietnamese searched our cell, as they did periodically, and discovered Mike's shirt with the flag sewn inside, and removed it. > > That evening they returned, opened the door of the cell, and for the benefit of all of us, beat Mike Christian severely for the next couple of hours. Then, they opened the door of the cell and threw him in. We cleaned him up as well as we could. > > The cell in which we lived had a concrete slab in the middle on which we slept Four naked light bulbs hung in each corner of the room. > > As I said, we tried to clean up Mike as well as we could. After the excitement died down, I looked in the corner of the room, and sitting there beneath that dim light bulb with a piece of red cloth, another shirt and his bamboo needle, was my friend, Mike Christian. He was sitting there with his eyes almost shut from the beating he had received, making another American flag. He was not making the flag because it made Mike Christian feel better. He was making that flag because he knew how important it was to us to be able to Pledge our allegiance to our flag and country. > > So the next time you say the Pledge of Allegiance, you must never forget the sacrifice and courage that thousands of Americans have made to build our nation and promote freedom around the world. You must remember our duty, our honor, and our country.' > > 'I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisable, with liberty and justice for all.' > > PASS THIS ON... And on... And on! You can even send it back to me, I don't mind, because its worth reading again. > > oh......and then you have this clown, who refuses to place his hand on his heart and say the pledge...... > > Subject: Remember this picture on election day! > > Let's all remember this on election day...if you have family serving in the military, make sure you send it along. I don't care for Hillary, but at least she shows respect for the country she lives in! > > I had heard about this but a picture is definitely worth 1000 words! God save us!!! > > Senator Barack Obama, Governor Bill Richardson, Senator Hillary Clinton and Ruth Harkin stand during the national anthem. > Barack Hussein Obama's photo (that's his real name)......the article said he REFUSED TO NOT ONLY PUT HIS HAND ON HIS HEART DURING THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE, BUT REFUSED TO SAY THE PLEDGE.....how can a man like this expect to be our next Commander-in-Chief |

I don't know what you guys do during it, but I always fold my hands behind my back while it plays. I've seen many people fold their hands in front of them like Barrack is doing above in the picture. Now during the Pledge of Allegiance, of course I place my hand over my heart, and I can't stand it when people refuse to do that simple act of respect. If that article is right and he did not want to place his hand over his heart or say the pledge, then that is a poor act on his part. |

Gold Member Username: The_image_dynamicSan Diego, California Post Number: 3782 Registered: Dec-06 | You guys really think a black guy with the names Obama and Hussein has a chance to be president in this country? The fact that we are down to these three choices just illustrates the fact that being the president of the most hated country in the world is just not worth it anymore to almost everyone. We have plenty of brilliant minds in this country that could probably fix this up in a couple years, but why would they want to? There is almost zero upside to being president anymore. Lower gas prices by a dollar a gallon, stabilize the economy, pull out of the catastrophe known as Iraq, and start working on repairing our world image. If someone (anyone) can do these things then we have a winner. Home prices have fallen at historic rates, gas prices are at an all time high, pretty much every country in the world despises us, credit debt is rampant, kids are dying every day in Iraq for no good reason, and unemployment numbers are gaining fast. Would you want to be in charge of fixing these things with the whole world watching for $400,000 a year? You can't really blame anyone for not wanting to get into politics, this country is a train wreck. |
Platinum Member Username: LklivesPost Number: 15394 Registered: Jan-06 | Unfortunately , we have a very poor choice selection..Money for campaigns, just about knocked the better more experienced and capable candidates out of the running, IMO.. Honestly, I'm not crazy about any of them... McCain is tool old and old fashioned thinking..the country needs a serious wake up call and changes! OBama is just not ready, nor do I trust him or his judgement, in any way.. That leaves Hillary, who is a parana, ruthless and shady,...but IMO, together with her VERY experienced and previously successful husband Bill, is the best and most experienced choice we have.. |

Gold Member Username: PitbullguyThe Chicago area Post Number: 3081 Registered: Oct-06 | "maybe you just need to learn how to take defeat." I have no problem accepting defeat, your team won last week, nice job. Maybe YOU should learn how to win graciously instead of going out of your way to talk trash in a thread that has nothing to do with fantasy baseball, and in response to a post that wasn't even directed to you. Paul said, "Not to start a political debate avalanche but.......", and you said later "Barrack can go to hell. He is a sorry sack of sh1t". Those are pretty passionate, harsh words. So I was saying that Paul failed in trying to avoid starting a "political debate avalanche". And if the picture of a cat with a piece of cheese on his face wasn't enough of a clue to reveal that I was joking around, then i don't know what to tell you. I have nothing else to say on the matter, and I have no hard feelings about it. If you want the last word, it's yours. |

Silver Member Username: EldogPittsburgh, Pennsylvania Post Number: 176 Registered: Jan-08 | I didn't say anything about drastic changes that maybe abroad. I could care less. I can't call any shots. First off, I'm saying ANY change is better than the current system majority of America voted for twice in eight years. (putting the blunt out and shaking my head in stupidity). I read ALL of you guys posts crying about the war, gas prices, environmental issues, jobs, crime and all kinds of other shyt that this DEVIL PRESIDENT has done but I see you guys fukking with Obama and the ONLY reason why is because he's Black and a Democrat, in which I know majority of you car enthusiasts aren't. It's your prerogative of your political party choice but the shyt that Mat Dope posted was uncalled for. By seeing where he lives and his truck is self explanatory of what he is. Reece, I've been around for a while and believe me kid, I've seen just about every crooked politician known alive. You can even ask the older guys here like LK, Brad, Berny and a few others I didn't mention that when we were young, shyt was unstable all over the world. Iran, Libya, Iraq Desert Storm and Lebanon were the hot spots at that time. This Middle East drama is nowhere nothing new and America will be battling in the sandbox for another 1000 years, as long as there's oil under the sand. Me personally, I don't think Obama is the answer. OH SHYT,DID I SURPRISE SOME ? Just because I'm Black doesn't mean I have to follow or support his azz. If I had to pick between the two, Hillary would get my vote all day BECAUSE SHE IS WELL QUALIFIED THAN OBAMA AND Mc CAIN. I'm not like majority of ALL AMERICANS that ride the bandwagon on the hottest candidate going. I'm voting for the one that I know who can pull some dents out of these bad situations WE ALL are going through. You can forget about Ron Paul's goofy azz. Reminds me of Ross Perot. I hear mofo's say Hillary ain't shyt and it just because she's a woman. Don't forget. We might be chauvinistic to a degree but we all know to NEVER UNDERESTIMATE A WOMAN, ESPECIALLY WITH POWER. Look at Oprah Winfrey's fat azz. Enough said. What I'm looking for out of any of these hopefuls is to get that oil price down, affordable healthcare for EVERYONE, get the American dollar to where it was and bring those troops home protecting us citizens. Fukking China OWNS us. I believe America had borrowed like 72 trillion dollars from THEM recently. This DEVIL PRESIDENT is ALWAYS up to no good but he wants to give us a measly 300.00 bonus from the IRS. What a fukking joke, while us taxpayers funded that war but meanwhile many Americans are so concerned that we MAYBE getting a Black president. Reece, my mom is terminally ill with cancer devouring her entire body and she has MAYBE 3 to 6 months to live if that and she said before she passes, she wants to see a Black president or a woman president and I don't care if others care but I'd love to see my Mom's wish be fulfilled. She is a devout Christian with strong beliefs and I think she deserves it. Anyways I'm saying that WHOEVER gets the nod to run shyt, I'll support you as long as it doesn't have the last name Bush. Bush doesn't even support his own people. It seems like if you make less than a quarter million dollars, he don't want nothing to do with you so he showed his true colors on that. BUMP THIS THREAD ! There's too much to talk about. |

Platinum Member Username: LklivesPost Number: 15416 Registered: Jan-06 | Eldog...I agree with your opinions 1000% regarding Bush and the present administartion... I disagree with your reasoning for wanting Obama or Hillary.. Who gives a flying fock if Obama is black, or Hillary is a woman....or MCcain is a white male!..I'm NOT voting for a color or gender!...Both things U made a real issue about in your posts...that bothers me!...I don't like it when people play that race or gender card and accuse others of being prejudice, when they themselves are the ones making prejudicial comments, regarding politics.. Colin Powell would have been a great Black leader/prez, IMO...and Margaret Thatcher was no slug herself in the world communities as a leader....but it wasn't their color or gender that made them special.. I stated my reasons above why I would again vote for Hillary, if she's there in the end.....and why I don't like either Obama or MCcain...and its nothing superficial like what U appear to dwell upon or need to even mention..or bash Americans for...we all have our own reasons, for our own decisions, and are not blind nor stupid ..leave the race and gender card out of this.. U seem like an intelligent guy, so I was a little perplexed that your "implied" accusations, or even your moms wishes are , IMO, pointed in a specific direction for the wrong reasons..... as a white male, I'm so tired of hearing and seeing that race or gender card played..its just ridiculous and actually becoming offensive, and an insult to any person with any intelligence.. BTW...my best regards to your mom and her family.. |
Silver Member Username: EldogPittsburgh, Pennsylvania Post Number: 181 Registered: Jan-08 | What's up LK. Thanks for the kind words for my mom and family. I appreciate it. You know what LK, I can respect your judgement and choices but if race sounds like it's being played in the topic, then it is what it is. Reading the shyt Mat Dope and Brad typed have all kinds of racial overtones in it so I can't help but jump all over it. Glorifying assasinations ? No Black president cannot get elected because his name is Barack Hussein Obama. Do you know how stupid that sounds coming from a so-called intelligent guy. LK, you know I'm not voting based on skin color and I've stated this forever. If it was, I'll be dyckriding Obama till the very end but I said I would vote for Hillary because SHE'S A QUALIFIED CLINTON and not because she's a woman. I knew it sounded a little off the wall that what my mom's wishes were before she passes but as a 64 year old Black woman that has seen everything from lynchings to her not being able to vote, this is a miracle for her and I want to see my mom smile for a change instead of a frown of being drugged up on Oxycoton and suffering. Hey LK, I just want you to go through my previous posts in this thread and pull up some Black and White issues that I so called stated. I don't think that I did. Take my word for it. I'm not a Black racist but if I'm being put down or insulted, you know that I'll retaliate but I truly didn't come here for that. Even before when we exchanged words, we were BOTH WRONG and I'll be the man and apologize to you. I'm just exhausted, working two gigs and taking care of my mom and other personal/financial problems are taking its toll on me but I'm a strong man and I'll get through. As far as a leader that can get US over the hump, HillaBill is the only candidate can do this. Thanks again for the kind words LK. No more beefs alright ? |
Platinum Member Username: LklivesPost Number: 15418 Registered: Jan-06 | its all good...to be honest I haven't/didn't read all the posts here, and just saw your last couple...and if your remarks were meant to others for their racial overtones and implications, then I understand..its all good between us..I just felt compelled to voice my thoughts when I saw the last few posts, and maybe didn't follow the thread more thoroughly.. Again my prayers to your mom and family..my mom just had lung cancer surgery 2 weeks ago, but the Lord willin she will be OK..and there is NO black or white moms...just MOM....and all of em have gone thru the various life stresses, just like we do too, especially in these times.. |
Platinum Member Username: WingmanaliveA pic is worth 1000 posts!! Post Number: 16115 Registered: Jun-06 | Sorry guys. I didn't start this thread for a racial or political debate. Hence the name of the thread, minus the racial inclusion. We all as Americans want the best possible future for our families. I as a parent have to say I'm concerned. I think/know most everyone agrees Bush was a clusterfuck of a president and the entire process needs a deep colon cleansing. Personally I feel America isn't ready for a female president. Call it as you will. It's my right to say that, and my vote. Obama isn't ready either, for his own disqualifications which have nothing to do with race/religion/background. What are we left with? Not much. |
