I'm not a fan of either team but that was crazy!! A one game playoff for the division title and they go 13 innings, in the top of the 13th the Pads score two only to have the Rockies answer with 3 runs to win it in the bottom of the 13th!!! Make your predictions before the playoffs start if you'd like, here's the breakdown: Cubs vs. D-Backs Rockies vs. Phillies Yankees vs. Indians Angels vs. Red Sox I don't follow baseball that closely so don't hold me to this but i'll say the Cubs beat the Rockies in the NLCS and the Angels beat the Yankees in the ALCS. Angels > Cubs in the WS |

Platinum Member Username: LklivesPost Number: 12693 Registered: Jan-06 | The Arizona Diamondbacks finished off their overpowering sweep of the NL Division Series on Saturday night. They did it with a convincing 5-1 scrunching of the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The Rockies have made it to the NLCS for the first time in franchise history. The Colorado Rockies roared into the NL championship series Saturday night, completing a three-game playoff sweep by beating Philadelphia 2-1 on pinch-hitter Jeff Baker's tiebreaking single with two outs in the eighth inning. Colorado's 17th win in 18 games was fueled by Jimenez, the hard-throwing 23-year-old who allowed one run and three hits over 6 1-3 innings during a pitchers' duel at Coors Field, of all places. Then, those reliable Rockies relievers silenced Philadelphia's dangerous bats for the third straight game. ROCKIES IN ARIZONA FOR THE NL CHAMPIONSHIP, THURSDAY 11 OCTOBER... and the whine of the day is..now just need some Yankee cheese! If Roger Clemens had been making the call, the New York Yankees really would have bugged out. Clemens viewed Friday night's insect invasion at Cleveland's Jacobs Field from both the dugout and a television in the clubhouse, and he concluded it was too distracting an environment to pitch in. "I would have probably pulled us off the field," Clemens said Saturday at Yankee Stadium. Yankees rookie Joba Chamberlain was covered with the midges, an insect related to mosquitoes. He threw a pair of wild pitches that allowed the tying run to score in the eighth, and Cleveland went on to win 2-1 in 11 innings and take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series. "I think it's hard enough for our young kids to go out there and concentrate in that situation to have something like that happen," said Clemens, the Yankees' Game 3 starter for Sunday. |

Gold Member Username: PitbullguyAscendant Audio Arsenals, Chicago Post Number: 1976 Registered: Oct-06 | you mean in game 5? cause guess what!!! game 5 isn't in Boston, it's in Cleveland!!! This is something that has p!ssed me off for years in both MLB and the NBA, the 2-3-2 series format is GARBAGE!!! When the team that EARNED homefield "advantage" drops one of the first two at home, the away team then has THREE CONSECUTIVE GAMES AT HOME!!! It's stupid. Schedule the extra plane rides and make it a 2-2-1-1-1 format like it should be. |
Gold Member Username: Hawaiian_timeKanaka freak... Post Number: 1556 Registered: Apr-06 | Exactly Pit Bull! I always thought the same about the 2-3-2 format! You just lose one and the other team has a great advantage already. How the hell does this benefit the team with the best record!?! |

Gold Member Username: CenusOhio Post Number: 3704 Registered: Jan-05 | the indians deserved to get as far as they did, not go to the WS, i mean they were up 3-1 then in the last 3 games get the sh1t kicked out of them, if they lost by 1 or 2 runs in extra innings i would feel different on this subject but they didn't, boston went out and tore them a new azz, better luck next year. |
Gold Member Username: PitbullguyAscendant Audio Arsenals, Chicago Post Number: 2001 Registered: Oct-06 | who knows who really "deserves" to be there...I mean the rockies made the playoffs on a pretty obvious bad call where Holliday failed to touch home plate when he slid, and now they're going to the WS |

Platinum Member Username: LklivesPost Number: 13016 Registered: Jan-06 | well if.."playoff wins are the only wins that mean anything"...then I guess the Indians and Red Sox were deserving to be in the ALCS, and Sox and Rockies to the Series!....and if U don't have enough regular season "wins" in your league and/or division, then U don't even make the playoffs, like the Rockies did...and Yankees did NOT!...or has baseball changed? it is what it is, and should be..unless u like the way hockey allows almost every team in the playoffs,,,and then why have a "regular" season? |

But they respect the Yanks players and Joe Torre. And I respect the Sox players and their great manager. It wasn't until I came here that I found people who really hate the Yankees! Being a Yanks fan most of my life, I had to retaliate. I really don't care who wins the World Series if the Yanks don't. I would say congrats to the Sox nation but I doubt it if any Sox fan here would say congrats if the Yanks won the Series, so that's why I held back. |

Youkilis becomes just the second Red Sox first baseman to ever earn a Gold Glove, joining three-time recipient George Scott (1967; 1968; 1971). The voting is conducted by American League managers and coaches. In 2007, Youkilis became the first qualifying first baseman in American League history to compiling a 1.000 fielding percentage as he handled 1,080 total chances without an error in 135 games/124 starts. San Diego's Steve Garvey, who handled 1,319 errorless chances over 159 in 1984, is the only other qualifier ever with a 1.000 fielding percentage at first base. Youkilis' 135 consecutive errorless games in 2007 were an American League record. |

Platinum Member Username: LklivesPost Number: 13446 Registered: Jan-06 | Don Mattingly on the LA Dodgers was a great first baseman...but Yuke has already has bettered Mattingly or any other AL first baseman's feats EVER, by NOT committing 1 error all season!!!...Nobody else can say or have done that EVER now! |

It's a shame though that they pass on guys who had fewer errors and started more double plays and such for guys who are in vitamin water commercials and have more of a reputation. Hey LK guess who was on Late Night with Conan O'Brien tonight!? BIG PAPI!!! I know you think i hate the sox, but man i love big papi. What a funny, entertaining, charming guy. |

Platinum Member Username: LklivesPost Number: 13849 Registered: Jan-06 | Golden Phone A man in Topeka , Kansas decided to write a book about Churches around the country. He started by flying to San Francisco and started working east from there. Going to a very large church, he began taking photographs and making notes. He spotted a golden telephone on the vestibule wall and was intrigued with a sign, which read 'Calls: $10,000 a minute.' Seeking out the pastor he asked about the phone and the sign. The pastor answered that this golden phone is, in fact, a direct line to heaven and if he pays the price he can talk directly to God. The man thanked the pastor and continued on his way. As he continued to visit churches in Seattle , Dallas, St. Louis, Chicago, Milwaukee, and around the United States, he found more phones, with the same sign, and the same answer from each pastor. Finally, he arrived in Massachusetts. Upon entering a church in Boston, MA .. Behold - he saw the usual golden telephone. But THIS time, the sign read "Calls: .35 cents." Fascinated, he asked to talk to the pastor, "Reverend, I have been in cities all across the country and in each church I have found this golden telephone and have been told it is a direct line to Heaven and that I could talk to God, but in the other churches the cost was $10,000 a minute. Your sign reads only 35 cents a call. Why?" The pastor, smiling benignly, replied, 'Son, you're in Boston, Massachusetts now, home of the Boston Red Sox. You're in God's Country, It's a local call |
