Gold Member Username: LklivesPost Number: 9778 Registered: Jan-06 | The satellite section here is the #1 site and forums when doing a Google search of "dss satellite" also..thats HUGE for attracting sponsors money!...and amazing since the satellite forums here is NOT a true internet satellite site since it has NO files needed to acquire dss satellite, unlike all the other dss satellite sites..there are many other dss satellite sites with much more members and posts, which ALL have the required necessary files, manuals, guides, etc, which are NOT even available here....I believe half the postings here are intentionally done by Ecoustics staff who impersonate others and create trouble, to remain #1 at Google and bring in that sponsorship MONEY... thats what pays the bills for these sites (server and personnel costs).. |

I do wish there where more moderators and/or admins here to "keep the peace" here and control the chaos, when it develops... but I can say the admin visibility is more noticeable lately, but again that may be due to the inactivity in the sat section.. |

Every single one of those sites I listed has way more seeders. I have about 60-70 gigs of mp3's and music videos. I mainly use DC++ but I don't have time to teach everyone how to use it. DC++ is the undisputed king. You can get anything, anytime and at super high speeds. I can normally get any full cd I want in about 4 minutes, even old obscure stuff. |

Gold Member Username: The_image_dynamicSan Diego Post Number: 1650 Registered: Dec-06 | A seeder is someone who after downloading the cd or whatever they downloaded, keeps the torrent open so others can download parts of it from them. Their upload speed is added to all other seeders as well as leechers, until they finish their download and either drop out or become a seeder. BFD is short for big fucking deal. DC++ is a direct connect client that works totally different than torrents. Users share their entire collection of music, programs, videos (whatever they choose to share) and you are free to browse their folders for what you want. This is hugely superior to torrents, which rely on seeders who will only be around for very new releases. Once something is old and everyone has it, the seeds are few and the speeds are extremely slow. DC++ is fast regardless of age or obscurity of content because it is a direct connect protocol and doesn't rely on seeders. And LK what I meant by "teaching" people how to use DC++ is regarding the amount of gigs of shared files you need to have to enter the various hubs. Also, what to share that is within the rules of the hubs, finding quality hubs, how to determine fast users, how to set up your shares, searching, adding favorite hubs and users, and downloading good hub lists is tricky for alot of people. It takes some time to get down, especially for those with little computer experience. |
