Efficiency within two or three db. 2. Timbre matching between the mids and tweeters, and to a much smaller degree, the ouput of the bass drivers. Looks to me he has these two things nailed since those are from the same JBL S-series HT components and they use the exact same midrange and dome tweeters. The first requirement can be easily rectified with todays highly configurable surround-sound receivers and their multi-channel gain settings. The second requirement can also be rectified with a few adjustments to the eq controls to slightly boost the smaller woofers and slightly cut the larger woofers to create a stable and convincing soundstage. While I don't like his placement of either of the three speakers, his setup can be considered for all intents and purposes, "matched". |
