One of the things you can do is make sure that the drive wheels are on a wet surface. If it is front wheel drive, you engage the parking brake.

But, most long burnouts are on slick tires at the track and some vehicles have independent brake controls.

keep the ebrake on and once the tires loose traction dont keep giving it more gas to rev higher just try and keep it steady

balance the clutch and the gas so that way you don't stall. ebrake up, and when you want to take off just let the ebrake go. And you really shouldn't attempt anymore "drifts" in your front wheel drive.

Drifts are done at speed, and not usually on regular tyres.
For a fwd burnout, yes use the parking brake.
Massage the clutch and throttle until the tires break loose, then ignore the clutch(unless you want to replace it soon).
Keep on the gas, just enough to keep the rubber turning, always watch the tach, as you ain't goin' nowhere anyhow.

I went sideways in my Yukon once, and it lasted for quite a few seconds. I was going a little over 40 and was getting on the freeway, those 0 on ramps going downwards and my Yukon got on its side and when I was exiting my car was still on its side, then I lost control, spun out and slammed on my brakes. Freeway behind me was closed off so I wasn't worried . Just do some power slides, those are fun :D.
