Crimson Tide is under the scope of scrutiny and the one in my possession that wins hands down is the dts 5.1 THX Laserdisc where it leaves the region 2 totally submersed at the bottom of the ocean. Okay, okay, it will still entertain the average Joe on the street unless they've heard the first edition mix over and over on dts THX laserdisc.
The scene that I tested conflict between the captain and Mr. Hunter, the new executive officer, who goes over the captain's head because he feels that the (EAM) Emergence Action Message that was cut off during attack on the USS Alabama and the Russian submarine first of all needs verification before unlashing nuclear Armageddon on the USSR.
The home cinema is under tests at the present moment so my excuse for tonight's session is placing the SPL db meter 2 feet away from the centre channel which is a JBL control 5 set to active crossover mode with Behringer DCX2496 for LF and HF. The pink noise was a dts 5.1 calibration and set-up disc and with fader setting on the AVR set to -4db the pink noise was playing back at soft level of (57db 60dba)
The level of the film mixes are loud and like I, said I'm doing some tests.
