PANSAT RECEIVER SETUP FOR DUMMIES -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (NOTE: If you want your pansat to work properly run 2 coax cables from dish to your receiver have the diseqc switch no more than 5ft away from the receiver mine is 2ft.)There doesn't seem to be enough voltage to make the switch work properly that's why closer is better. 1. Download the proper GTRom Loader also the most recent bin file for your model of Pansat (you can damage your receiver by flashing it with wrong bin) from your favorite fta site. (pansatusa.xxx site has the gtrom loader and factory bin) 2. Hook up the null modem cable to your computer's serial port (some newer computers do not have serial ports then you need a usb serial adapter) then to your receiver make sure the switch on the back of the unit is in the off position then plug in the power cord to the wall plug. 3. Open the GTRom loader load the most recent bin (118 is the latest Sept 27/05)into the loader turn the power switch on wait for the receiver to say ON in the led window then hit download in the gtrom loader program (very important to let it finish damage to the unit could happen) receiver will reboot itself back to ON you are done flashing the unit. The factory bin is used if you have problems and need it set back to factory defaults. 4. (Hooking up the Receiver to the dish)With the receiver's power switch in the off position hook up the coax cable for the sat you want to scan first my preference is 110 then 119 (do not use the diseqc switch when scanning it will leave duplicate channels)then plug in the power cord and turn on the switch 5. In the menu go to installation then antenna setup scroll down the list to echo 8.6/ku (110 sat) and echo 7/ku (119 sat) hit the ok button on the remote which ever one is highlighted it lets you into the setup settings.I am using legacy lnbf's (2 singles)so I can only provide the settings for them. LNB type - Standard LNB Local-Freq 11250 22kHz OFF DiSEqC OFF ------(Note after you have finished the sat scan on both 110 & 119 and hooked up your diseqc switch you have to come back and change this line on both 110 & 119 to whatever you Hooked them up to on the switch. (my setup is #1 for 110 and #2 for 119) Skew -45 ------(this setting do not matter it put -45 in by default it is used for motorized dish's) TP (this changes when you change channels leave it at the default) Positioner Setting Disable ---(put in disable it is used for motorized dish's in the enable mode) Satellite Scan All These settings are the same for both 110 & 119 sats. 6. Go into Edit TP/Satellite in the menu and rename your Dish 110 to ECHO 110 and rename Dish 119 to ECHO 119. (the space between ECHO and 110 and ECHO and 119 is important!) 7. Do a Satellite scan on each sat,(Note:Bypass the Diseqc Switch run coax direct to receiver for each sat) ECHO 110 & ECHO 119. (Takes At least 10 min per sat) NOTE: If your receiver gets "hung up" during a satellite scan, stop it and delete the partially loaded channel list, for that SAT only, then rescan again till it reach's 100% and a channel will kick in with video and sound after each scan finishes. 8. When complete, push SAT button on remote, you will now have a choice you have not previously had "ECHOSTAR PACKAGE" 9. Select ECHOSTAR PACKAGE and select any channel. This will convert EPG Button to ECHOSTAR PACKAGE and your epg will match match D**H Network channels. 10.Turn switch on back of receiver to off hook up the cables to the diseqc switch #1 110 sat and #2 to 119 then your short cable from the out on the switch to the IF INPUT on the receiver. 11.You are done enjoy sit back and watch tv pat yourself on the back grab a beer you have have setup your first fta receiver. After doing this, you will see there is no need to load a channel list and epg works fast on most channels, slow to come up on others. I hopes this guide helps I put together things I learned from reading and other peoples input and trying on my own cheers.
