Pioneer DV-563a Problems with Speakers

My Setup:
Pioneer DV-563a hooked up via analog
H/K AVR 330 Receiver
Adire Rava Sub

The problem? It shows two channel ouptut when I press the audio button on the Pioneer remote - while at the same time showing 5.1 on the face of the 563a. I get no sound except out of the fronts. If I switch the audio to DTS on the disk ( Saving Private Ryan), I get sound out of the front and surrounds but nothing out of the sub.

In the 563a setup screen, I have 5.1 enabled and all speakers set to small with sub on. I have hooked and unhooked cables, reset to factory defaults and - NOTHING.

One intersting note, if i use the setup navigator on the 563a, it will NOT let me select 5.1 --it says not connected and I cannot change it. I have hooked up via digital coax and still get the same results.

Is my 563a hosed?

Hi Andy,

Although named "best bang for the buck", DV563A is known to have a poor bass management. For some formats cut-off is at 200 Hz, too much for most subs. I suggest buying a decent coax digital cable - your HK decoder will provide much better movie surround.

On the other hand, the 5.1 analogue connection is useful for hi-resolution music (DVD-A, SACD). DV563A is a very good starting point for checking out these formats.

Cheers
