I have sent back 1 unit for replacement but still have the same problem. The unit will freeze up about the middle of a movie. Sometimes it will stop and start, other times complete freeze up and will not play past the points even if you start over. Audio discs play all day no problems. Any ideas? thanks

I guess you have tried different discs. Could be where the layer transition is.

The movies we play are from our kids. They play O.K. on their machines. Some movies play fine. The cooling fan is working as its loud. Are there any adjustments that can be made or is this unit prone to overheating?

If the cooling fan works there isn't much you can do except be sure there is plenty of room behind the fan, and the intake vent slots are open and don't have anything blocking them. Also don't have anything under or on top of the unit. When you say the movies are from your kids does that mean they are home recordings on DVD-R or DVD+R discs? If so it might just be poor media. There are alot of poor quality discs out there.
