Just purchased a DVD/VHS JVC player. The DVD is working, no sound - VHS - plays, but no picture/no sound. DVD has component video; satellite to tv is s video. What did i do wrong? Also, do i need coaxial from satellite to tv, and from dvd to satellite?
If the DVD is hooked to component inputs you have to hook audio jacks too. The satellite to the VCR should be RCA jacks if possible. That will give a better picture and stereo audio, coax will be mono. The VCR should be hooked to the TV with RCA jacks too for the same reasons.
Thanks for the message. I managed to get sound/picture from the DVD last night. Still nothing from the VHS though. I have the Y,W,R cables hooked up to the TV; and a coaxial from DVD to Sat - not sure if i need that. I'd like to be able to record from the VHS when watching satellite??
The VCR should be hooked to the satellite with RCA jacks, then the input needs changed from tuner to line. If you have RCA jacks from the VCRs out to the TV then it is hooked up right. The TV would need to be set on whatever input the VCR is hooked to, it would be different than what the DVD player is on.
