New member Username: RkwanSan Diego, CA USA Post Number: 1 Registered: Jul-04 | Anybody haveing audio problems in DD5.1 and DTS when using the Samsung DVD-HD841? I seem to be getting sporadic audio cutouts during the playback of certaind DVDs in DD5.1 and DTS. I tried swapping the optical cable, but I still get the same problem. I also swapped out the DVD player with another unit as well and get the same problem. Any suggetions would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Paul Neuls Unregistered guest | I am having the same problem. Have returned twice. No problems with other samsung dvd player or hd cable box w/5.1 output |
Bruce Phillips Unregistered guest | I can't even get this unit to load a commercial DVD (region code is correct). Audio CDs through optical (bitstream, DTS selected) crackle and are unlistenable. I don't know if I just have a defective unit or what. Very disappointed. |
New member Username: KlyonPost Number: 1 Registered: Sep-04 | I too have problems with DTS disks with the HD 841. I exchanged and had the same problem. All other Dolby Digital formats sound great, SACD is good too. Don't know if I want to give up DVI for DTS...Any suggestions? |
Unregistered guest | If someone had a region code change formula to hd841 please sendme, thanks |
Sacred Unregistered guest | To everyone that is having problem with their Samsung hd841. It matters what brand your reciever or stereo accepts. You guys need to look at the specs on your stereo systems and find out if accepts DTS codes or signals. Some stereo wont mention anything about digital audio signals and the new models of stereos will. |
New member Username: RkwanSan Diego, CA USA Post Number: 6 Registered: Jul-04 | It is not the receiver. The HD841 is just a piece of junk and has issues. The 941 might be better, but I will never buy another Samsung DVD player ever again. The reason why I went for the HD841 was because my old Sony DVD-S7700 didn't have progressive scan for use with my DLP TV and the Samsung was supposed to be a "really good DVD player with the latest technology at a grat price". I never had a single problem with the old Sony DVD player along with my Sony ES Receiver. After the whole Samsung thing, I ended up with a Sony NS999ES, which is a lot better. It did cost a little more, but you get what you pay for. I was also considering some Pioneer Elite, Onkyo, and Denon once I realized that getting a quality DVD player with no problems and being black in color would put me up in a higher price bracket. I have no freezes, audio problems, or anything with this new unit. SACD is great as well. I thought going cheap on a DVD player would be okay, but I thought wrong. |
WillBuySamsung Unregistered guest | Hey Bob Kwan, In the Audio Setup Menu there are 2 items that go together: Digital Output & DTS. Read the instructions carefully before moaning & bi+ching. Maybe NOT the HD841, but you are "a piece of junk and has issues." |
New member Username: RkwanSan Diego, CA USA Post Number: 7 Registered: Jul-04 | Hey WillBuySamsung... If you want to personally attack me, that is your business and shows that you have so much pride in Samsung products that you cannot accept it when another individual has problems with their products. You should accept the reality that people can have their own opinions about products from their personal experiences. I'm not the only one with issues with the HD841. One thing you should know is that I extensively played with the HD841 and could never get it to decode DTS properly. I even had 3 different units, diferent cables, etc. after all the exchanges. Believe me, I have much experience in the HT World and could never get it to decode DTS without any cutouts, problems, skipping, etc. The unit doesn't have problems with DD5.1, just with DTS. |
