Direct tv tech please answer 4th try

New member Username: FoundryheatingPost Number: 5 Registered: Apr-11 | receiver not used for several months. now I need authorization reset. can't contact dtv as i am in canada. account is paid every month by credit card. other 3 are working fine. How can i get this done.?? Will it download auto from satelite if i leave on ?? Please if you have any suggestions, let me know. Thanks |

See if you can get one of the other working receivers to your place to see if it works, and then also try switching cards between receivers, if possible. You may come to the conclusion that either 1. Your card is defective; OR 2 Your receiver is defective. BTW, Greg Raf works for DTV, and I am sure, he would be able to help. Ha Ha Ha. |

The shadow is 99% correct!...there is NO other solutions!!!!!...DTV will update the card, if the subscription is paid in full, and they can confirm they are talking to the account owner....thats when they ask a series of security questions...they don't care what phone ya call from...Many Canadians have 2nd homes in the USA , which have DTV....DTV has no clue where your reciever actually is, they belive it is at the USA address given to them by the account owner....so ya need to have the Canadian down receiver/card owner on a cell phone to verify any update actually works (cause this may take several attempts within 1-2 minutes) with U when U (presuming U own the account) call DTV and they do their updates.. The card is NOT actually dead, just the tiers (channels) have not been updated to your card..and ONLY DTV can do that update..and will need that specific card # and receiver RID #....it will NOT update itself in ANY receiver after being left out of the receiver or if receiver was powered off for a long period of time.... and U can NEVER put a card into another receiver...Each card is "married" to a specific receiver...and Nydas obviously doesn't know anything about satellite TV or DTV to give U such ignorant advice above... |

They said I must give them the address that was used to set uo account. Not any address will work. Told them I was in a hunting camp up in Canada and did not know acc# etc. that all my receivers work except the one I brouhght with me. Gave them my name and visa # and still would not except without origanal address. I went to dentist and had 2 molars pulled and a root cannal dne and it was a whole lot less painfull than dealing with dtv. I have been paying $ 140 a month for the last 5 years. Anyone got a gun ?? |

New member Username: BaffinPost Number: 5 Registered: Mar-11 | Well comfortguy you don't need a gun. what you need is a good lawyer I think they want the address to make sure that you didn't buy the receiver from someone and still money due on that receiver to direct tv. You can buy a used direct tv receiver and they will activated the receiver as lone there is no money due them that is why they need the address. btw.....be careful what you tell them, they may close the account. why don't you call your credit card company and ask them to tell you the date they made the first pay to Direct tv and your address at that time. |

I wonder if credit card company could request a statement of account and forward to me. I have never received a bill or anything. Don't know what program package I have, account #, nothing.
