I have a 17 year old Mitsubishi 50 inch projection TV. A service man said it needs a circuit board and will cost $225 to fix. Can this set give me several more years, or is it wiser to put my money into a new set? Thanks, Pat
This is a projection CRT set, right? let's see....it is a '93 TV. In perfect shape, it may be worth what you will be asked for the fix......certainly not much more.... Couple of options? Get it fixed, than DONATE for tax deduction. Somebody will maybe appreciate it? Get it fixed, than sell it and put the $$ to a new set. Don't get it fixed, donate it and buy a new one.
Fixed, it'll go a while longer, depending on the state of the CRTs. No real telling, though. One power glitch and you're out of here. Random stuff happens, too. Stuff breaks and old stuff breaks more often. At least when something NEW breaks, you've got some kind of warranty protection. Are 'ya feelin' lucky?
You kind of have to ask yourself about priorities. How important is brand-new latest? Do you have any gear with HDMI connections? HD may not be available thru component much longer. I doubt you can get HD thru your antenna. Do you have a convertor box? That'll help, for sure.
