Compression Competence (SatBroadcasting™) [SatNews] Net Insight will demo the JPEG2000 compression capabilities of its Nimbra 130 series at CommunicAsia 2010. JPEG2000 is a high quality compression technique, suitable and preferred in contribution environments that typically have favored uncompressed video, but now must have a compression option due to growing prevalence of high-bandwidth content such as HD video. The result is extremely low latency encoding and decoding. This makes it ideal for complex broadcasts such as live two-way interviews and enables operators to save on expensive transmission capacity. Net Insight's Nimbra page... One advantage that JPEG2000 has over MPEG compression techniques in contribution environments is that it compresses frame by frame. This means there is not dependence from one frame to the next, and that latency is significantly reduced. In addition, JPEG2000 processes the entire picture and does not generate the blocking affects that can be found in MPEG coding as a result of that it acts on 8x8 pixel blocks. The Net Insight Nimbra 130 JPEG2000 Video Gateway provides a field proven solution for JPEG2000 compression of HD and SD-SDI video, and allows transport of the compressed video as an Ethernet or ASI service in the Nimbra network. The Nimbra 130 JPEG2000 Video Gateway is a great supplement to the Nimbra platform, making Net Insight a one-stop shop for both transport and compression. Visit Net Insight at stand #4H4-01 for a walk-through of the Nimbra 130 JPEG2000 Video Gateway, learn the benefits of using JPEG2000 for compression in contribution networks. The Nimbra 130 can be configured for connection to for instance a collocated Nimbra 360 via Ethernet or ASI or to a remote Nimbra 680 over an IP access link. An integrated JPEG2000 solution for the Nimbra 600 series of multiservice switches will be introduced later this year. Source: http://www.netinsight.se/en/Products/Nimbra-100-Series/ |
