Hello gang. I am new to this forum but had to say thanks. I read this thread : https://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/home-video/295015.html which gave me the executive consumer phone number to Samsung. Even though my HLR-6178W DLP 61 inch was OUT OF WARRANTY,thanks to ammo like this thread they sent a local technician out to repair the problem free of charge. My TV now looks like new. (a couple mirrors in the light tunnel came loose). Don't give up on your tv if you have this problem ! There is hope ! A local business that sells them told me to put it in my garage and live with it...NOT ! This forum gave me all the right guidance to get it fixed by Samsung. They are a great company because they stand behind their product. I bought a 55" LED TV from Samsung for that very reason.
