Launched to work with the exiting Fox Soccer Channel, it will replace Setanta Sports in the United States. Setanta Sports had financial problems and had to be closed down in England. Fox Entertainment Group owns Fox Soccer Channel, and has licensing rights to Setanta for the EPL (English Premier League) and UEFA Champions League. Fox Soccer Plus is expected to carry programming similar to that of Setanta Sports Thus it will probably include the popular FA Cup , EPL, Carling Cup, Rugby, etc. Expect ot pay about $15-20 a month. It is expected that it will be available on DN, DTV, Time Warner Cable, Verizon Fios and perhaps others. Soccer following is increasing in America, particularly amongst the 18-35 age group. Whether it will still survive as a paid channel is uncertain. They probably would have done better by leaving it free or attacted customers with other low priced programming and relying more on advertising revenues. Only time will tell if it survives as a paid channel. In the meantime, it can be viewed on Echostar 10/11 at 110W. Here is a promo |
