In 2008 and 2009, Nagravision 3 changed the North American FTA Satellite testing community forever and resulted in the re-emergence of Internet Key Sharing (IKS). The market has seen a number of brands who came out with files and servers to support a Public IKS solution. Unfortunately, many other brands either opted to wait endlessly for a Nagravision 3 fix or released only tools you could use to setup your box to work with private solutions from shady dealers, many of whom were easily infiltrated and busted by investigative teams working on behalf of the providers.

In the time since IKS became a popular solution for restoring the ability to view Nagravision 3 encrypted content we have seen major players in Public IKS shut down operations due to legal issues between manufacturers, vendors, distributors and the satellite providers through the courts. A brand can simply not have any direct or indirect ties to the producers of codes and services to support IKS and all such solutions are therefore subject to risk.

IKS 2 was designed by members and owners of FTA satellite receivers to change the playing field for the benefit of the equipment owners, not the brands or coding groups. To give you a working option for boxes that are no longer supported because of simple greed in forcing you to buy new receivers or dongles just so you could watch TV again. To make matters worse IKS has resulted in untimely server outages and unpleasant viewing. IKS2 is here to change that.

IKS 2 is an improvement to the existing methods of sharing codewords to your receivers. First and foremost, its not tied into one single brand. Its only limited by the ability of talented coding teams to convert existing IKS code to the new platform. As a universal solution for IKS2 we actually hope some third party coding teams that have been working on particular brands see the light and release compatible files for these additional receivers.

All IKS 2 servers will be offshore. Not only will they be outside of the jurisdiction of law enforcement agencies that do little but work to secure the monopolies of wealthy satellite service operators that sell you TV services that should be free, the number of IKS 2 relays will be so plentiful and the seeds so diverse and protected, when any part of the IKS 2 system is taken down for maintenance, the rest is destined to stay in tact, with little to no downtime of freezing for end users.

What is the goal of the IKS 2 project? Universal IKS with a compatible protocol for use by all capable satellite receivers complete with the required redundancy and service capacity to last thru any attempts to thwart the successful delivery of codewords to your receiver. The end game is to stabalize a solution that has no business in the hands of groups with little to no server or networking experience. IKS 2 will be in the hands of the vast Internet connected community of equipment owners and managed by experts in the field of network communications and server management.

IKS 2 is expected to be available for many models of FTA receivers in the Spring of 2010.

Hi Navin, I do not own a Conaxsat STB. However, I read on nfusion dot com that the Conaxsat is down on both providers.

I Smell Mili in on this IKS2 crap. Can you say Slinger-2 so they are now able to write code for a dongle to use any FTA box.

just another way for someone to suck $$$ from free TVer's

"a dongle to use any FTA box. " - NO,
but "a server or set of servers to use any FTA box" - Yes.

Servers are just one aspect no different than any current IKS ( Slinger was also IKS) system is using, The developers will also have to have hardware that attaches to current FTA boxes that are NOT IKS compliant. Boxes that have internal or external dongles (CNX as example) could be used but Then there will have to be code written for each individual box which requires individual machine code knowledge...which no FTA box mfg or their hired coders have been willing to release to the public for "Hackers" to write our own code.

Just sounds like smoke & mirrors...like before Nag3 hit the street and spokes persons for FTA coding camps said that Nag3 is nothing more than Nag 2.5 and will be easy to circumvent. or the latest a few weeks ago that Nag3 hack will be released in a few weeks.....We all still waiting.

Ez2CTV: I would not be too pessimistic. There are hackers all over the world, whose main driving force is the challenge, e.g. read this blog
