I plan to buy a SACD capable DVD player, and hook it up to my Yamaha RX-V596 receiver which has 5.1 analog RCA inputs.
Will I be able to benefit from the SACD playback this way, or do I also need to get an SACD capable receiver ?

Hi Dan, yes you will benefit. The 5.1 audio outs are similar to traditional stereo ones.

I've seen warnings in the press about amp overheat due to hi-res extreme frequency range. I've noticed my Marantz to heat up a little, but leaving some space around it seems to be enough.

Hooking up brings about a bitter-sweet dilemma though: cables do make difference. I brought home two Supra for my humble system. Sounded so good that I lure on 4 more, which would mean spending more on cables than on player.
