I just bought a Sony VRD-MC6 DVD recorder in order to burn dvd's from my Canon Vixia HF200 AVCHD camcorder. However, according to the Sony box, it will only record a high def dvd from a Sony hi def camcorder. Before I open this thing up, does anyone know if thats true? How can it be that it would only recognize a Sony hi def camcorder and record a hi def dvd from that and not a Canon? Isnt AVC a standard that should be recognized by any DVD recorder?
It sounds like I am having a similar problem with the same recorder, except I have a different canon camcorder. It says something about needing a DV (ilink) cable in the user guide, I am curious to find out if you figured out how to solve your problem. If so, please help!!!
Yes, I did solve my problem. First thing you need to do is to go return your Sony DVD recorder. Per a Sony representative, I found out that you can only record to a Sony DVD recorder FROM a Sony camcorder. It will not record from any non-Sony camcorder. I then bought at Canon DW-100 DVD recorder and couldn't be happier. Quickly and easily burns DVD right from my Canon camcorder in beautiful hi-def. Got mine from BH Photo online. You might want to check Newegg as well. Good luck.
