Here is a major manufaturer's receiver, and the announcment says your old 5000 or 600 can be activated unde rIKS for $89, and there does not seem to be any interest in this forum.

Why?

also we have seen freezing problem with all new "iks system"..
so Freezing would be always concern....

for customers who have their koolsat it might be good investement
for new customers i don't think it would be wise to buy koolsat
if u look at in the past , they purposely destroyed one model after another ...
now its the time for loyalty ... its too late..

I would not be surprised if this is a retaliation against DN for the court case - retaliation from old C00LSAT customers who know how to put together an IKS and probably better than the other IKS providers. The way the announcements have come and the timing of it makes me very hopeful.

From what I've read on several forums, it's all just a matter
of marketing strategy.
Nfusion & Kbox presented themselves as the new wave
of boxes for the newly arrived IKS technology
(Nfusion much earlier than Kbox)
Those two brands, together with Conaxsat (CNX) now have
more than 80% share of the market.
Then came ViewSat's fiasco and SonicView's late entry into this
highly competitive IKS scene.
By then, many of the previous owners of those boxes were highly disappointed
at the lack of support that those "dinosaur" brands had offered them after the N3 blackout
and had already invested in one of the leading players
And you can just check it out at any forum:
either you are an "Nfusion Guy" or a "Kbox Dude".

The C00LSAT 5000 and 6000 are the only olde established receivers that will be offering any television. There are still a lot of people who have not invested in a IKS, not because of the cost but because they are not sure about the product at $220 - 280. At $90, it should create an interest. Everybody on this ofrum knows somebody (I know at least 6) who has a C00LSAT 5000 or 6000 lying around as a doorstop or a paperweight.

Because Foolsat will offer the same american pack of all IKS, When somebody will undertand that it will be more easy to offer a solid IKS with a different Channels choice it will be interesting.

Maybe the american think that they have a great culture, but it's impossible for intelligent peoples to think like that. ;-)
