Well he needs an lnb. I may be mistaken but I think that sat is linear. So a linear lnb, some cable, and a TV.

If you could get a circular/linear lnb and a disqec switch you could line up on 119W which is very strong switch to linear, and prolly pick it up.

Ole...
he has all above as you mentioned Xcept lnb.
what LNB de-best ?
will the captivework be good enough?
or only the IKS compatible receiver (i.e. n-fusion-K-box etc.) are capapble of capturing the signal?

I use a Invacom QPH-031, but its a bit pricey around $50 or $60.

If I were going to buy one today it would be a DMX741 CKU LNB it costs about the same with a better noise ratio.

If you wanted just a linear LNB I would go with a Spitfire Elite (which I also own but I use for a backup) it is only linear but has a .1 s/n ratio for less than $20 but you will not be able to get 119W, 110W, and 91W and other circular sats.

You need IKS right now to capture most scrambled signals, but there is plenty of free TV out there. I haven't scanned 118.7W but if it is scrambled you prolly need and IKS receiver.

I myself am waiting for a stand alone fix. I don't trust IKS, but that just me, and I know I might have to wait a thousand years but I will have my free TV to keep me company.

I just scanned 118.7W and it is scrambled no freebees you need an IKS. If you go IKS make sure you get the right one because one is better for certain satellites. I don't which one, prolly NFusion but you need someone else to help you with that stuff.

1. Anik 3 - 118.8W requires a special circular LNB - NOT a Linear LNB.
2.The LNB frequency has to be 9750 to 10750. The lower the better.
3. Apart from the one you can buy from Dish network, you can get generic ones for about $20. They are named CB2008A and Digiwave DGL 1189.
4. Most of the channels are International and under N3 encryption. You will need IKS.
5. Khub has the most channels from this sat.

Hi Nalin, do you know a good Anik F3 TP one that has high quality so I know if I'm picking up Anik F3 instead of Echostar 7.

Nevermind Nalin I figured it out. The transponders on Anik F3 118.7W are at a lower frequencies.

Ole McDonald

If you have a QPH-031, you will not get 118.8W, I have one.

This 118.7W seems to have a bunch of in the clear Ion channels and NASA select just like 119W except the tp frequency is lower.

Well it could be I shifted my scans from 11250MHz to 9750/10750MHz and these channels are from Echostar 7 on a lower frequency.

If you do not use the special LNB you will get strange results.
You need
1. the special LNB
2. 33" dish or wider
3. Set LNB type to Standard or Universal 2
4. Set LNB freq to 11750 or 9750-11750
5. Set first TP to 11715 and do a all scan or just do a Blind scan.

Ole McDonald

Use Standard and choose only 10750 because if you select 9750/10750 you will get both frequencies for the same channel.

Sometime you can find hidden channels with a scan on 10600 or lower always on standard LNB.

Good scan!

Ok Plymouth Thanks but I think I'll give it a rest. The channels are all scrambled anyway.

I was able to tap into the last 2 Anik F3 TPs 12185 L and 12155 L but the rest won't give me any quality. I guess you need that special LNB for the rest.

Ole

I talk for true FTA channels on other satellites not for scrambled satellites.

Same for me only 2 higher TP's on Anik F3, I hope that Invacom correct it on new LNB.
