I dont know what just happened but my viewsat plat just died, its plugged in fine but the front is absoloutely black where before it obviously had the number of channels, ive done a hard boot, but no luck, plugeed out and back in but no luck.
Having no luck my friend,i got the load 1 and then the factory bin then i turn the receiver on from back and then go stb-->pc but it doesnt start, i turned off and on many times but no luck. then the bad zsnit fram type message pops up in the status.
Power off the unit on back panel, Press and hold front power button then power ON on back panel then release the front button and list what you see on display.
i dont know what u mean, my receiver doesnt have that i believe, no light anywhere from the reciver as i can tell, looked inside from the top of receiver and no light as well.}
The next painful question: Is your Viewsat plugged in an outlet ? Have you tested the outlet with a portable lamp or hair dryer to make sure it is powered ?
Sure Ali that would be the next thing to do. Unplug the unit, open the cover, smell the main unit and power supply boards and look for a smelly area. If an electrolytic capacitor blew up, it will be smelly around the capacitor and most likely a dark greasy deposit will be seen around it. Replace the capacitor first (if that is the case) and look for a blown or cracked voltage regulator (is it really a TIP42 in there ?).
But I would also look for a more evident component like a fuse soldered on the board. The capacitor got shorted, and that blew up the unit fuse way before any voltage regulator had any time to blow up.
Does anyone have a circuit diagram for that power supply to share ?
Oh.... Ali. What was it you were doing with the unit just the minute before it blew up ?
i was trying to hook up the antenna cable for the local channel signal, since it gave signal only when in a (those silver round things, like tv out, tv in).
i think its an orginial, umm i didnt change anything in the antenna, i had the latest bin of 090407, the plat is about 2 years old, it didnt show any power brounout or lights going super bright at all.
Your box can be good and lose the software, sometime you can't see any light and the receiver is good.
Work on VS Ultra, try it:
Dowmload the loader for VS Pro and try to force your bin with this one, but you must be sure that the receiver is able to communicate with the receiver, if you have another computer try it and be sure that you doesn't have the error message "bad zrinit".
2 Vs Ultra give no display but still good, I recovered it with this solution.
get a electricaltester ckfor voltage after it goes through tranformer whatever look for fuse if good go learn abou j tag. Sorry not more help but better than all that BS.
