I have a Toshiba 46" HDTV connected to a Motorola HD Ccble box(Verizon).When I connected them with several different grades of HDMI cables every 10-20 mins. I would get 1-2 seconds audio drop out-video not affected.Contacted both Verizon & Toshiba and both passed the "Buck". I corrected the problem by using RCA cables to and from the TV & Box, switched my HDM! to Analog.No more audio drop out. I feel the problem is with my cable box or cable signal from Verizon not either strong enough or that it varies in strength to be acceptable for audio HDMI connection
