Platinum Member Username: Basshead86FTW Post Number: 10309 Registered: Aug-05 | So, i need some knowledge from the higher powers that wander the internet about some myths and truths to the HMDI beast. 1. HDMI 1.3 is the newest of the new for HDMI and it supports everything up to 10.2 gbps right? 2. What is the truthful difference between the HDMI 1.3 cables they sell at Target, Walmart(Belkin, Philips, Sony) and the $120 Monster cables they sell at BB and CC besides the quality of the Shielding?? 3. Do you need a Monster 1000 series ultra high speed cable to run a 120hz tv to its fullest potential? a guy at BB told me that the higher speed HDMI cables are better suited to transfer pictures for the 120hz, but that is done at the TV so why would it matter??? 4. i ALSO have an older (2-3 yrs old) Dynex HDMI cable from when they were first coming out, would i benefit from upgrading to a newer cable that supports HDMI 1.3?? I think that about covers my questions for now. Because i am getting a new TV soon and i want to have the best connections and make sure my equipment as far as cables are concerned are as up to date as possible. Thanks Guys!! |

Platinum Member Username: Basshead86FTW Post Number: 10311 Registered: Aug-05 | so i found a website called www.HDMI.com and i found the answer to nearly every question. so then why does Monster sell these $120, $150 cables for no reason. When the ones you can get at Target ($40 for 6 ft.) are exactly the same as far as specs....except for the shielding. Anything under 10ft, and standard cabling could be used but anything over that and higher speed cabling(which is HDMI 1.3) needs to be used. i think i got it. lol looks like i am going to spend $80 on 2 cables instead of $120 on 1. |
Gold Member Username: SamijubalPost Number: 4054 Registered: Jul-04 | you can get the same quality cables on ebay for a lot less than $40. Monster sells them for that price because there's suckers that will pay that much for them thinking their picture will be better. You can get a decent quality 1.3 cable on ebay for less than $10. Just brouse the listings and pick a good one. |

Platinum Member Username: Basshead86FTW Post Number: 10314 Registered: Aug-05 | damn King!!!!! lemme read all that first and then i will post something with some sense. LMAO |
Platinum Member Username: Basshead86FTW Post Number: 10315 Registered: Aug-05 | so why the eff does Monster have on their website under each cable respectively when any cable that totes the HDMI 1.3a-b-c stamp do 10.2 gbps?? 1. 700 series - 4.xx gbps 2. 800 series - 7.xx gbps 3. 1000 series - 10.2 gbps is this all Marketing Gahbage??? why would they mislead you when there is SOOO much information to contradict there false claims about "better, faster, better-looking" cables???? i would like to see the Cards' win it BTW. my pops likes the Pats and Steelers, but i want the team who has a 61 year gap to win it. call me crazy |
Gold Member Username: SamijubalPost Number: 4055 Registered: Jul-04 | Like King said, Blu-ray players is about the only place you'll get a 1080p signal and need 1.3. DN has been advertising 1080p with on demand, wheather it's actually high quality or not I don't know, cable and satellite companies can compress channels pretty bad, it would require a 1.3 cable too. I bought a good quality 3' HDMI cable on ebay for $6 or $7 shipped, I don't remember which. I bought a 6' cable from eforcecity for $2 shipped when they had one of the first 2000 sales things they do pretty regularly. bensbargains.net has the sales come up all the time but the stuff goes real fast. The ebay cable is considerably better quality. Monster has to come up with some type of hype just like Bose. How else can they sell their way over priced stuff? |
Gold Member Username: TapemanNew York Citay in-HD, NY Post Number: 3940 Registered: Oct-06 | They can claim anything they want There are always consumers go for the priced products Without looking for electronics specs such as gold plated and superior shield etc. Now how is that gonna improve bit rate transfer? Simply RipOff HDMI 1.3 is pin configuration change from 1.2 and 1.1 Yo can trust me on that |
Platinum Member Username: GlasswolfNorthWest, MI USA Post Number: 12337 Registered: Dec-03 | 1. read the wikipedia page on HDMI it has the revision history 2. no real difference. it's digital. ones and zeros. the data either gets there or it doesn't. use ebay or newegg.com and get your 6' HDMI cable for $6. 3. see #2 4: I'd get a current cable just to be sure allpins are used throughout the cable for support on pin 13 for CEC/AVlink and so forth. |
Platinum Member Username: Basshead86FTW Post Number: 10318 Registered: Aug-05 | sounds great guys!!! thanks for all the help!! i was going to go tonite, but my dam battery is dead. alt problems. oh well, gonnna go tomorrow though. |
Gold Member Username: TapemanNew York Citay in-HD, NY Post Number: 3941 Registered: Oct-06 | Yo can read this section: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-Definition_Multimedia_Interface Also look at the pin configuration on the right side from the top I go by pin configuration |
Gold Member Username: TapemanNew York Citay in-HD, NY Post Number: 3943 Registered: Oct-06 | Hey GlassWolf I did some research about CEC It turned out that it was an addition of pin 13 which is CEC that was not available on HDMI 1.3 Very minor difference now upto version 1.3C For Command remote control which what I thought transport commands |
Platinum Member Username: Basshead86FTW Post Number: 10319 Registered: Aug-05 | after learning all this about HDMI and about how all the hype is b.s..... i feel like when Neo wakes up in his jelly-sac in the Matrix....like it was all an illusion. LMAO!! |
