Platinum Member Username: NydasPost Number: 11174 Registered: Jun-06 | A DisEqC switch when shorted sets everything to Port 1. Make sure that anytime you connect/disconect you do not have power on in any of the receivers. Bypassing the switch to test the sats is a good idea. |
Silver Member Username: DishloverToronto, Ontario Canad Post Number: 211 Registered: Jun-06 | Nalin Receiver is just one. Now I tried to change the antenna settings and Got BEV (Nimiq2) all channels but by changing this few channels from Anik3 Echo7 and G25K are gone scarmbeled. What should I have antenna settings. |
Platinum Member Username: NydasPost Number: 11179 Registered: Jun-06 | Tamara: It seems what you are getting is all channels on one LNB, through port 1 of your diseqC, irrespective of where the LNB is connected to the switch. This suggests t me that you have a bad DisEqC switch - the usual reason for it is as I stated - conecting/disconnecting with receiver power on. You can try using another switch. |
Silver Member Username: DishloverToronto, Ontario Canad Post Number: 212 Registered: Jun-06 | Thanks Nalin. I 'll try another switch on weekend and will let you know. Great help. Nice people. |

Gold Member Username: RtapFL Post Number: 2210 Registered: Jan-07 | tamara go with a dp 34 switch.this way you can add more receivers and sat in the future.good luck Important Safety Instructions You must keep safety in mind when you install and use the DP34 switch. Refer to the safety instructions in the installation instructions that came with your system. In this Guide, the following notes tell you when you need to pay special attention: Marks a procedure where the following may happen: Personal injury or death may occur. Equipment or property may be damaged. Marks the following issues: Important operation or maintenance instructions follow. Special attention is required. Page 3 Why install a DP34 Switch A DP34 switch allows you to receive signals from two or three DISH Network satellites, and route these signals to as many as four DishPro satellite receivers per switch. DP34 switches allow you to add as many as four DishPro receivers to your system by adding just one DP34 switch. What's more, up to three DP34 switches can be connected to each other, so that you can route the satellite signal from two or three satellites to as many as twelve DishPro receivers. Note: Some DishPro receivers have more than one tuner -- for example, the DishPVR 721 receiver has two. In this case, one DP34 switch can be used to deliver the satellite signal to two of these receivers, or to one of these receivers and two DishPro one-tuner receivers. Introduction This Guide explains how to install one or more DP34 Multi-Dish Switch(es). You should use this Guide along with the DishPro Installation Instructions that are in the user guide that came with your receiver. Page 4 Warning: The DP34 switch can be used only with DishPro LNBFs and DishPro receivers. DishPro products can be identified by the DishPro logo shown below. If your system has LNBFs that do not have the DishPro logo, you cannot use the DP34 Switch in your system. However, you can use the DP34 Switch if there are receivers in your system that do not have the DishPro logo if you buy a DishPro Adapter for each of these receivers. DishPro Adapters can be purchased from your DISH retailer, or by calling our Customer Service Center at 1-800-333-DISH (3474) Note: The following instructions assume you have already pointed your dish for the strongest possible signal, and have run Check Switch with the DishPro LNBF connected directly to the receiver's Satellite In port. If not, you must install the Dish, following the instructions that came with it, before doing the following. Page 5 How to Install a DP34 Switch 1. Mount the DP34 switch onto the side of a building, or on some other sturdy structure. Make sure that the mounting location is stable, and that you fasten the switch tightly to the surface. The DP34 should be fixed by suitable hardware for the wall or ceiling. Note: Mount the switch so that the connections are horizontal (as shown in Figure 1), and put drip loops in all coaxial cables. This helps prevent leakage of moisture into the switch. The DP34 switch can be installed outside your home or building, because this device is designed for outside use. You can have up to 200 feet of cable between a DishPro LNBF and a DishPro satellite receiver with the DP34 Switch connected at any point along the 200 feet of cable. The cable must be rated for 950 to 2150 MHz. Some cable is labeled "Swept tested to 2150 MHz." If you are unsure whether your cable is rated to 2150 MHz, check the container it came in or talk to your retailer. Page 6 Figure 1 2. Connect the coaxial cables from a DISH 500 or a DISH 300 to the ports on the DP34 switch labeled "to Dish" (see also the wiring diagrams that begin on page 11. 3. Connect the cables from the Dish receiver's back panel Satellite In port(s) to the DP34 ports labeled "to Receiver Satellite In." The switch's four outputs each provide signals from two or three satellites, so you can route the signals from two or three satellites to as many as four DishPro receivers or tuner inputs. Page 7 4. The switch takes the place of a ground block. Article 820-40 of the National Electrical Code (NEC) states that you should locate a ground block as close as possible to where you have the system connected to the ground (for example, to a water pipe or rod driven in the ground). So, do the same for the switch. After you have connected cables and DP34 Switches to all receivers in the system, you will need to run Check Switch on each receiver in your system, one at a time. To do this, follow these instructions for each receiver: 1. Select the Main Menu, then System Setup, Installation, and Point Dish/Signal, or push 6-1-1 on the remote. 2. A Point Dish/Signal menu similar to the one shown as Figure 2 will open. Do not connect the receiver to the ports labeled "To additional switch" as this can cause other receivers in the system to experience loss of video. Page 8 Figure 2 3. Select Check Switch. The Check Switch screen will open. Select Check. 4. The Check Switch procedure will run. When it finishes, you will see an Installation Summary screen. This screen should identify the installed switch as a DP34. You should see "110" and "119" on the "Satellite," line, and the word "All" under both 1 and 2. You should also see the message "Satellite reception verified," and your LNBFs ("Devices) correctly identified. If your system includes three satellites, you should see Dish Input for three satellites, and all three satellites correctly identified, as illustrated in Figure 3. Page 9 Figure 3 5. While your screen may not look exactly like the one shown here, you must see Dish input from both satellites (or all three satellites, if applicable), the "Satellite reception verified" message, and your LNBFs (Devices) correctly identified. If you do not, you will need to check all cables and switches, and then run Check Switch again. Page 10 If you still do not see the "Satellite reception verified" message, select Details. This screen provides information that may be helpful in trouble-shooting the problem or in reporting it to the DISH Network Customer Service Center. The wiring diagrams in this Guide that begin on page 11 omit cable drip loops and grounding for clarity. Make sure to use drip loops, and to ground the system per the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all local electrical codes. Page 11 Wiring Diagrams DISH 500 with DishPro Twin LNBF and a DP34 Switch Connect both ports (connections) on the DishPro Twin LNBF to any two ports on the DP34 Switch that are marked "to Dish." Platinum Member Username: NydasPost Number: 11182 Registered: Jun-06 | Tamara: 1. If you are using 2500 to 2700 conversion BINs I found a problem with some of them, where you get strange results scanning. I found the Nick PUFF BIN very satisfactory. 2. If you have two sats or even 3-4 sats and one dish you are OK with disEqC switch. If you have two-four sats and two dishes you are OK with dual outputs of most of the standard LNBs and two DishEqC switches. The cheapest DisEqC switches by Digiwave - $5 each are OK if you do not attempt to do switching of cabes with receiver on. C))LSAT make a $10 switch anf cheetah switches are considered very reliable. If you have 3 lLNBs and 3-4 receivers you need a DP34 or a more generic 3 in 4 out switch. |
New member Username: RivmanSOL Y PLAYA, PR PR Post Number: 1 Registered: Jul-08 | Tamara; Always check the integrity of your connectiions. Make sure that cables, plugs, terminals, etc. are tight and poroperly fitted to ensure good contact and minimize signal loss. Loose, corroded or not so well connected components (i.e. lnb's, switches, cables) can be a real pain sometimes. |
Silver Member Username: DishloverToronto, Ontario Canad Post Number: 221 Registered: Jun-06 | Nalin and J-Ron you both are right and appreciate your input. Every time file is changed the channels are screwed up and I have to make changes in the antenna setup. But still can't get all channels. If I get all dish channels then loose some on BEV and vise versa. Not sure what to do. I changed the switch and with even the new one same result. |
Platinum Member Username: NydasPost Number: 11232 Registered: Jun-06 | Tips. 1. Use your known antenna setting for each LNB. 2. Disable in software all LNBs (switch set to off) except the one you are scanning. 3. After scanning, disable it and do the same with another LNB, and so on. If above does not work, try direct connect to receiver from each of the LNBs separately to confirm that LNB is pointing correctly. |
New member Username: NuprulesPost Number: 3 Registered: Feb-08 | hey nalin here is my situation related to this original poster. i have 4 receivers technically 5 i guess because i got a dual tuner. i got 3 lnbs. they all go into the diseqswitch dp34. now i need to connect 5 receivers basically. the hd receiver, a dual tuner receiver, and two fta receivers. now the problem i am having is this. tv1 out is hd box. tv2 and tv3 are the dual tuner dvr box. tv4 is an fta box. now for the other fta box i used the ports to other switch on the dp34, connected 3 wires to it and put another 1 receiver switch on it to get to tv5. now the problem is on my tv4 im losing signal or getting little or no signal. what could be the problem? and then the 110 signal is gone and i have to hit check switch on the hd receiver and then the channels come back for a little bit. tv4 is the one with the problem. tv5 is ok. thanks in advance for your help. |
Platinum Member Username: NydasPost Number: 11238 Registered: Jun-06 | I am not sure what you exactly did for the 5th receiver. You cannot have more than 4 receivers running different channels on DP34. The best you can do is to use one of the outputs and put a splitter to view the same channel on two TVs. You could try a 3 x 8 Multi-Switch VHF/UHF TV antenna mixing Up to 8 satellite receivers can independently select different satellite channels Non-powered for under $30 or buy a 5 x 8 multiswitch for about $100 http://www.dealtime.com/xPO-Philips-Philips-5-x-8-Multi-Switch I think Digiwave also makes cheaper switches for three LNB and more than 4 receivers |
New member Username: NuprulesPost Number: 4 Registered: Feb-08 | how would i use that 3x8 switch? i have 3 lnbs. 110 119 61.5 |
Platinum Member Username: NydasPost Number: 11244 Registered: Jun-06 | 3 x 8 switch will come with its own instructions. 3 stands for three inputs - LNBs 8 stands for 8 outputs for 8 receivers. Your DP34 is named DP34 because DP means Dishpro, 3 in 34 stands for three inputs and 4 stands for 4 outputs. |

Silver Member Username: DishloverToronto, Ontario Canad Post Number: 223 Registered: Jun-06 | After scanning the channels the way you explained should I keep all switch software to off?. Can you let me know the standard settings for Echo 7, Anik 3 and Nimiq1 or 2 please. Thanks in anticipation. |
Platinum Member Username: NydasPost Number: 11247 Registered: Jun-06 | Echo 7 and Anik 3 can be on the same DiseqC port. ,b>YOU MUST HAVE A SPEcCIAL lnb - CB2008A or similar.</b> Scan anik 3 first with LNB type Universal or circular LNB Freq 10750 or less First TP - 11715 V Then scan Echo 3 using LNB type Standard or circular LNB Freq - 11250 First LNB - 12224 V or 12239 H. You can look at Lyngsat*com under http://www.lyngsat*com/packages/america.html and click FREQ for the sat. This will give all the TPs, and you may want to make sure you have all TPs and do a full scan or have first TP and do a Blind scan. DisEqC switch USUALLY IS 1 for this LNB but it can be any Echo 3 - use standard LNB and LNB Freq of 11250. First TP is 12239 H (see Lyngsat). The USUAL diseqC conection is port 3 or 4 to leave Port 2 vacant for 110W. This is just a convention, but best to follow the convention. Note: 1. The physical port conections must match the software settings in antenna. 2. The Anik 3 signals require 30-33" dish size minimum 3. You only scan a satellite that you are pointing to but can use any of the provided slates. This means that instead of setting up Echo 7 and Anik 3 together, you can create a separate slate for Anik 3 using a spare set such as 129W (echo 9), but with the above mentioned settings. |
