A lot of people are asking what's this KOBX. Is it better than nFusion, etc?
Well, NO it's NOT better than nFusion and NEOSAT IPRO, in my opinion. It's basically a C00LSAT 7100 CLONE which has been modded a little. It also has the IKS feature via Dongle which now most C00LSAT receivers support.
The real IKS is a thing. Dongle isn't good and it's nothing compared to the actual IKS built-in. This KBOX is a little better than nFusuion in way because of this memory and USB feature. But, NEOSAT IPRO 2000 has more memory than this unit. Do not buy KBOX ... its future isn't bright. Basically a C00LSAT modded professionally.
Buy nFusion for $199.99 or NEOSAT for $199.99 - KBOX SUCKS!
Sorry, African, I haven't tested it yet, but you can easily tell almost everything about unit by looking at its features. In other words, KBOX is basically a C00LSAT clone with more features. C00LSAT receivers also have the DONGLE feature.
i think we should wait before writing it off i have been testing one for 3 days now and the picture and sound quality is great, and it is so easy to set up,i think great box for newbies i will have to wait when new ecm hits to see how iks holds up
KING YOU HAVE AN OPTION TO ANSWER OR JUST GET THE F*UCK OUT OF THIS SITE. I DONT NEED YOUR IDIOT COMMENT. DOES PAY MY RENT . SO KEEP THE THREAD CLEAN OR U WILL BE BANNED AND DONT THINK ECOUTCS DONT DO THAT.
How does a dongle work? Will it work with dial-up?
Depending on the receiver, but it's basically just a small adapter, one end plugging into your serial port(RS-232) on the receiver and the other end is a female ethernet (RJ-45) connection port. The dongle connects to a router, although you could connect it to a PC to share a connection as well, including dial-up(each brand of receiver might have different requirements, ensure dial-up is suffiecent for your unit and dongle first)
If connecting to a PC it requires a special ethernet cable called network cross-over cable. If you're connecting to a router just a standard ethernet cable is needed.
Will the dongle allow my receiver to be like an nfusion or neosat?
yes, this device will allow the receiver to run by IKS and can keep the receiver going when an ECM hits. (read up on Nfusion and Neosat for more IKS information)
do i need to be constantly online?
If your bin file goes down, the dongle uses the internet connection to keep running, so depending on the application you might need to have it constantly online, or just when the bin file goes down from an ECM
What receivers currently offer a dongle?
as of today April 30, 2008 -
C00lsat Captain Sonysat KBox Ivision/Visionsat IV200 and IV300 Homesat kbox

Is there a wireless solution?
Yes, you can use a few different options, but all include buying a separate adapter. see this list from nfusion discussions, all of these devices will work with a dongle just the same.

k i have a ques about this ... i heard Kbox stays forever the software never goes. so AV ur sayin buy nfusion or neosat ..does tht stay forever or the bin will go for tht ..let me knw plz bcuz i was thinking to buy the Kbox
The nfusion or neosat will stay up while other recievers will go down. But it is not 100% so it may go down but it will come back faster then any other reciever.
Kbox doesn't have built-in IKS feature. It comes with a dongle which means it's basically like some new C00LSAT model. Buy Neosat IPRO 2000 for the same price with built-in IKS, USB, and double memory.
I have KBOX and I have to say that it went never down during the last ECM same as nfusion and neosat. I have to say also that the picture quality is far away better than nfusion and neosat.
knox with iks was up during the latest ecm and it is a very good box for newbies who want iks very easy to set up and use very good picture and sound quality also on the last ecm the receivers without the iks were up in 10 hours
