I don't think yo can find one FTA receiver product and say it is the best receiver out there. If yo say best receiver Question is in terms of what? Quality, Price, Service or what? Most receivers out there are rip off anyway Low quality and over priced
But I will point to yo One tip yo might find helpful in your search:
- Video resolution What is video resolution?
Standard definition SD= 420i or 480p For NTSC it is 720x480 video resolution
High definition HD=720p or 1080i (broadcast) No broadcast at 1080p at present time Only TV capable to upscale to 1080p HD=1080x720p or 1920x1080i
i means interlaced p means progressive scan either i or p made of 60 frames per second each frame is 720x480 as SD (frame resolution) 1920x1080 as HD(frame resolution)
i cuz it's interlaced is equivalent of half the quality frame comparing to progressive scan So yo can say i=30 frames per second p=true 60 frames per second
Don't look too hard for any progressive scan FTA receivers out there There isn't any progressive scan And if there is it will say it loud and clear on its specs
Thank god to Digital cable (Interactive Optimum i/o) I have it and I love it True HD I only pay $30 per month
Anyway Most FTA receivers are not even 480i In fact none of them say what the heck they are?
This is a receiver got my attention I don't have this product yet But I tell yo specs have it It also has PVR capability for recording and playback on an external hard drive USB with memory stick Time shifting etc. Universal remote control Price about $130 http://www.inteltechnologyinc.com/products.htm
If yo own this product please list your comments If yo don't, buy and come back and tell me how do yo like it?
No doubt it is a price value and quality Question is service? A lot of FTA receivers out there are cloned to something else As I read briefly on www-ftabins-net
I let yo do the search But this is a great SD FTA Receiver From electronics prospective according to specs
As far as HD I still don't recommend any FTA receiver A basic HD receiver with an 8PSK module that sells for $600 still not worth more than $200 on King's scale They are still way over priced low quality
King i have Vs Ultra on 61" tv and Cw600s premium on 28" tv and viewsat have a better quality picture and resolution(DVD quality if signal is capable)but sound poor
No I didn't justify I started by saying no FTA receiver has it all
As one of many tips to look for (VIDEO RESOLUTION) I wanted to focus on the Video resolution This is one of the few recivers I see listing a 720x480 without hiding that info usually when they hide it cuz it's less than 480 like 420 etc. BTW 576 is PAL which we don't use in N. America 480 is for N. America
No does not have IKS But I'm sure there is a way to convert a basic USB 2.0 to RJ 45 (about $8.00) It's nothing but a basic ethernet converter I doubt if the factory is the one that supports the service I think hackers simply cloned that receiver cuz of its better video quality
This is the gemmick yo gotta watch out for from the SV8000HD specs: Decodes All ATSC HDTV Standard Video Formats Including 576i / 576p / 720p / 1080i Down - convert HDTV to SDTV Selectable Output Video Format : 1080i / 720p / 480p / 480i
This tells yo what output format to interface with yor TV what it doesn't tell yo what video resolution it is SO IT'S A GEMMICK If it doesn't say what it is cuz they don't want yo to know Trust me it's a piece of sh!t $200 at best way over priced All it does is decode HD to an unknown resolution So if yo pay $400 or $600 Yo are paying for 480p upscaled to 720 or 1080 Video output
So I used my own fill in the blank Unless they need help from me to assist on writing the specs correctly
BTW Best recommended HDTV by King Is the Panasonic Plasma and second choice is Sharp LCD
I work with a guy that has this exact reciever. He likes it, but the guy he used for "updates" left town and I helped him find a file. I know the VS and Pansat (among others) were up a day after an ecm, i looked for his 2 days after and it wasnt out yet, but that has been a couple months ago. But it did take several days, almost till the next ecm before it came out. That could have been an isolated case. He has never said anything else about it. He likes the pvr, although he thought he could record to the usb stick.
I would look at support first. Even if it does have support right now, how long will it last. No use having a receiver with a great quality picture if there's nothing to watch.
I personally think hackers take bin files from c00lsat or panssat and modify them to make it work for this Visionsat
But the unit is great Yo can record on external USB drive 2.0 Yo can record on USB like an hour or 45 minutes Or mainly for time shift
When I say time shift meaning yo can for an example watch American Idol 30 minutes late and zap those stupid commercials Or watch sports game few minutes late and skip stopage commercials etc.
Just like TIVO Keep in mind TIVO and DVRs are patent products So what got my attention is the PVR which is different patent from DVR and TIVO is now capable to do TIME SHIFT and did it fair ans square without violating patent laws
I only cheer for the good play And this is a good one by Visionsat
Great job Visionsat Yo can now hope hackers adopt this for quality and performance and make it work for PTA
i keep my CW-800s till new year to see what happens with this BS of rumors about nagra3. money cant be trown like that every time a new fta box comes out promising the sky nd de stars.
Files for the VisionSat are coded by the same group as C00lsat. The files come out slow for the C00lsat so they come out slow for the Visionsat. The files are released at F2ATV.com Why would anyone buy a receiver that isn't well supported?
If N3 gets hacked yo won't need new receiver But I would bet it won't be as easy DN and BEV are taking such a high toll this time around I don't think they are as stupid as yo might think
But I do strongly believe some other PTA will get in the zone
Bob8888 Thanx for your info This is what share info is all about "Why would anyone buy a receiver that isn't well supported?"
I'm not recommending one or the other All I said this receiver got my attention From electronics and performance I also want to make it clear that it appeared to me a bounch of hackers took that model and make other bins compatible
