When new bin is loaded on Pansat (2700/2800), channels are lost and have to be scanned. For VS Pro, that's not the case (all channels remain intact).
Any explanation ?
Thanks.

Maybe you are not waiting till the 2700 or 2800 displays a channel number before you start the download.

if bin loads with nite rider lites (starting download before channel is displayed)you will need to do antenna setup and scan.

if you wait till channel is displayed ,the receiver will show same percentage as loader and will reboot to a channel instead of ON and language screen.

u need to download channel master.

scan the channels to your pansat and then load to channel master

then load the new bin in your pansat. once you do that load channels from channel master to your pansat.

I'm not that good explaining stuff but..

Canadian, did you download channel master already? If thats the case.. Make a blind scan or whatever and BEFORE loading a new bin connect your reciever to ur computer just like when you load a bin and on Channel Master go to Tools > Read from STB and choose the type of reciever you got and wait for it to load.. then save your channel list.

Now you can load your new bin, then on channel master (with your channel list open) go to Tools > Write to STB, choose type of reciever and wait for it to finish.

Terry:
I think it has to do with the amount of RAM inside the box and the number of channels loaded. When a bin is loaded, part of the RAM space is used for temporary storage during the process. If the RAM space is limited, the area used for settings and channels is overwritten and so the settings and channels get trashed, I have a FLU and only one LNB so normally have only about 250 channels loaded. When loading bins, I never seem to loose my channels or settings, where as others, probably having several LNBs and hence more channels, do.
The Viewsat, having more RAM memory in the first place, is probably less likely to have this problem because there is plenty of room for temporary storage when the bin is being loaded.
That is my cut on this phenomenon anyway...

Sorry Terry, my last post should have been directed at "Canadian" instead of you, my mistake!

I think you are talking about pansat 2500 or fortec ultra, and you are still using the B75 conversion model. If you convert to Puff your channels stay there when you load the new bin. for info on how to convert your receiver to Puff, search the forums.

Thanks Lucia. Got CM from the link you provided.
Question: When I did TOOLS > READ FROM STB and tried to select receiver type, I see 2700A but no 2800A. Any idea ?

If you use "Pansat 2700 or 3500", you are OK.

Months ago I downloaded my channel list

Everytime I load new bin, then I load my
