After using Pansat receivers for the last 4 years and after frying my last pansat 3500 with the 375 bin, I decided to go for a change and I bought a viewsat ultra. I am facing some problems in getting all the channels (my dishes still pointed as they were before ). for example when i do a channel scan on echo 8.1, all i get is 135 channels (they are all working, i even get p0rn channels but no ppv at all) but when i do a blind scan i get almost 450 channels (ppv are there but none of them is working and the same for the rest of 300 other channels, all i get when i put a ppv channel is signal search). So what is wrong that i am doing. thank you.

The P0RNS are on vertical TPs.
The PPVs on Echo 8,10 (110W) are on horizontal TPs.
It seems you are not getting the horizontals as is seen on some LNBs.

Go to lyngsat*com and get frequency for Sat TPs. Then in channel scan menu check each manually but for each horizonal subtract the number of the TP from 25600 and change it to vertical.
Note: Lyngsat lists TPs as L or R as opposed to H and V. L=H and R=V (or vice versa?)

In summary, manually change each horizontal by subtracting its number from 25600 and changing it to vertical. Its called bandstacking.

African is right. On Viewsat Ultra, you do an advanced scan - NOT a blind scan.

hey, let me explain everything again. on port 3 i have echo 1.2 (i cannot move this dish because down on the balcony and it is stuck eventhough when i scanned it i got only 102 channels and there are lot of missing channels like Aljazeera for example) and on port 2 i can put echo 8.1 or echo 7 but i cannot put them both at the same time as you know. is that helping you?

i am not asking you to move your dish
i am talking about your antenna settings on your receiver
this is what you should have
port 1 >119
port 2 >110
port 3 > 61.5 or anything else
now do that and let us do 1 sat at a time
start by bringing up 119 and make sure the switch is on port 1 and let me know if you get 119 on top right hand corner and quality gets better

148 when using port 3
110 when using port 2
nothing (no quality ) on port 1

Hi African,

Same problem so I am trying your solution. (My settings are similar as Robert's posting). When I select Port 1 on echo 7 (119) top right hand corner shows nothing and the quality flickers between 0 and 10. Can youplease tell me the settings for 119?

sometimes when you flash your receiver with a new bin the settings get messed up . No need to add or change TPs just check all the settings b4 you scan.

ok, i think the problem is solved. thank you African.
TO RVM:
GO to Antenna Setup, then go to LNB type and change it from OCS-DP to STANDARD and you will be able to capture H and V at the same time.
And African, Thank's again

You are right, When i switch to port 2 and frequency 12224, i get echo 8.10 in the top right corner and signal 78 and quality 82, but when i do auto scan, it scans echo 8.10 and not echo 7. Please advise. thanks

you got to do it for each sat
now go to antenna settings and change first line to echo 7 then all settings should be same as echo 8.10 but you will have to change switch port until echo 7 comes up on top and scan.
when everything is working good go back in settings and write down settings for each sat and keep for future reference

Tried what you said. Even with antenna setting at echo 7 and all other settings being the same, i tried changing the switch but all settings give me fluctuating quality between 0 -10 and nothing at top right corner. Only port 2 gives me good signal as well as good quality.
Echo 8.10 is already set at port 2 and the same results come when i try to switch the port from port 2. Thanks
