USB to serial convertors are notorious for problems and for slowness.
Buy only the type with its own installation CD.
Do not allow windows XP to install it.
Manually install using CD
Select COM1, or COM2, or COM3 or COM 4 port.
Use device manager in your computer to check and select the right port.

You will need a null modem cable as well

Chris...what serial port are you using in you PC look at that than use the same port in the loader....set your loader PORT the same as the PC port..than it will work.

on my laptop/notebook I use a docking center with a serial port try PORT #3 and Blacklist Updater v1.4 .... but on my desktop Pc using XP I use null modem cable PORT #1 Also if you are using a USB cable make sure you have USB2.0 installed on your notebook some older Compaq Pres. with Windows XP only use USB 1.0

Yuh..Chris you need to download the USB driver first so your notebook can recognize it first before you can use the loader...if your device manager did not show that mean your USB driver haven't install yet..or something is missing.
