Purchased a Sony KDL 40S2000 less than 2 years ago. This morning I turned the tv on and heard a pop. The picture is now very dark at the top, slowly brightening towards the bottom of screen. I called Sony Support and they offered very little assistance since no extended warranty was purchased. When buying, I was told the avg lifespan of the tv was expected to be 5-7 yrs, and now the cost of repair is expected to be $500-1000. I have been a lifelong fan and supporter of Sony products but no longer confident I can rely on the company for either quality or customer support. Any advice/suggestion/support would be greatly appreciated!
