Gold Member Username: NydasPost Number: 8643 Registered: Jun-06 | Sadia: "a converter FLU" + "supposed to load with a null modem cable" Who told you that? You have to use a straight RS232 cable. |
Gold Member Username: NydasPost Number: 8644 Registered: Jun-06 | Ali: Viewsat lite takes DB9 F/F null modem cable. If you are not sure what cable you have and it does not work, the best thing to do is to buy a DB9 M/F null adaptor. With the adaptor in, you have one type of cable and with the adaptor out you have the other type. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- USB to serial convertors are notorious for problems and for slowness. Buy only the type with its own installation CD. Do not allow windows XP to install it. Manually install using CD Select COM1, or COM2, or COM3 or COM 4 port. Use device manager in your computer to check and select the right port. |
Bronze Member Username: Lochness90Post Number: 13 Registered: Feb-08 | I don't know about viewsat cable, I know my FLU takes straight cable. You might want to invest in a multimeter or ask your friend if they have one. Straight RS232 cable for us to download bin is: Pin 2 goes to pin 2 and this is PC's receive pin. Pine 3 to pin 3 is PC's transmit pin. Pin 5 to pin 5 which is ground. For a cross over cable: Pin 2 to pin 3 pin 3 to pin 2 Pin 5 to Pin 5 Notice the cross over on pin 2 and 3. So use a multimeter to ohm it out. As for what COM to use, just check in the Device Manager. I support PCs at work and found that if you plug some of those USB to serial converter to USB port, the system assigns different COM for different USB port. I have seen it assigned COM6 before. So, always check your device manager. |

Bronze Member Username: DafidofPost Number: 57 Registered: Dec-07 | 1- install the driver for you USB/RS232 cable. 2- into "device manager -> under ports -> right click -> properties -> port parameters -> advanced" set witch com you want to use 3- start viewsat loader, and configure it to the same com. 4- here you can begin sending the new bin to your receiver. |
