When you plug it into ur laptop (thats what i think ur doing) go into control panel and then system then device manger and find PORTS (COM & LPT) left click it then properties then go to andvanced and chage it to ur COMM port that ur using ( probably COM3) hope that helps. | |

Bronze Member Username: Ariza700Markham, On Canada Post Number: 39 Registered: Feb-06 | Anyone, I tried the driver recommanded by misc123 and it did not worked. I let vista to look for the driver but that did not work. When I plug the adapter in USB port, under device manager-USB controllers- unknown device shows up but it says no driver installed. Vista will not accept the drivers. Anyother suggestion???Thanks for your help in advance |

New member Username: Misc123Post Number: 3 Registered: Sep-07 | I've uploaded the 2 mostly used drivers for the Serial-to-usb adaptors: usc1m-pl2303-usbdb9-vista.zip vista_usb-driver.exe I have installed the first one on 5-6 laptops with Vista Home with no problem but no luck with the second one. You may try both drivers and follow the instructions below: STEP 1: Install the Software First, download and install the driver. STEP 2: Plug-in the Hardware Connect the USB-to-Serial Adapter to your PC's USB port, and follow the on-screen instructions. STEP 3: Set the Right COM Port Right click on MY COMPUTER, then click PROPERTIES. Click HARDWARE, then DEVICE MANAGER. Double click PORTS (COM & LPT), and look for PROLIFIC USB-to-SERIAL Comm Port. Double click that to open it. Then click PORT SETTINGS, then ADVANCED. Change the COM PORT NUMBER to COM1(or whatever COM PORT you want). Then click OK. If you get a warning message, click YES. Then click OK, and close DEVICE MANAGER. Finally, restart your PC. Good Luck! |

Bronze Member Username: GrearzPost Number: 14 Registered: Jul-06 | Just because it works in xp does not mean it will work with vista. I just had a *itch of a time in the past looking for a usb wireless stick that worked with vista reliably. Only found one, but just to let those that dont know that xp and vista are different. I find some of the usb to serial cables tempermental. Data rates may be slow. im sure in time it will get better, when everything catches up to being compatible with vista, then i might moved ahead with vista. |
