They're using a "brute force" approach, and while it does take about 10 seconds for a channel to lock in, it IS working. That's right...WORKING ON PPV, PORN, and PREMIUMS! Also, as stated in a post last week, the timer value keeps changing, you can see it happen watching the Open Cam run. Timer value changes every 10 to 15 seconds. Their EMU is working, delivering proper control words, so in fact many are watching TV right now. The Linux based stuff requires less horse power to process, but it IS defeatable for non Linux boxes. Give em some time, Coders will come through (as usual) and the game will continue. I know this is old information, but anybody else can explain to me how exactly does "brute Force" works. - Is it a new type of algorythym program? |

Hence why u see the delay for channels to lock in, this delay is caused by the length of time the co-processor can go thru all possible combinations to find the correct timer. SV, VS, Pansat and the others should have fast enough processors to do the same. It also makes sense why its been reported that CW is slow switching between channels. |

If this type of FIX arrive for the rest of us, one thing is for sure is going to take even longer to lock on the channels. Dreambox runs an 250 MHz IBM PowerPC (350 MIPS) and DGStation RELOOK has an IBM Power CPU PC405, 350MIPS (252MHz} ALL CW except for CW300 their Main Processor are Cx24138, Speed 160 MIPS (that why takes longer for them) Poor Pansat 3500sd of mine it only has a Sti 5518 BVB, ST20 32bit CPU 81MHz} (100 MIPS) I hope that my Coolsat 8000 can keep up LOL!} |

Silver Member Username: Jurj1Post Number: 347 Registered: Jul-06 | Please remember though the Brute Force approach is most likely a temp fix until they retrieve the info they need to make the receivers work properly. Once they do there will be no delays. Think about it, I highly doubt a DN 301 receiver has a faster processor than a dreambox or any newer FTA receiver, yet I'm sure none of those receivers have issues. |

We have seen several users of your receiver that have had major problems with data loss after the update process. So to save yourself some time later make a back up now.. https://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/home-video/428318.html |

Silver Member Username: Dr_dssPost Number: 428 Registered: Sep-07 | doubt a DN 301 receiver has a faster processor 301 has a sti5518 What most of you always fail to realize is a big word called EMULATION stb's don't have access to the MAPs on the cards like DN and B3v boxes do they have to "EMULATE" them, as a result it's double the overheard, makes a big huge difference. |
