I am very used to pansats and have never had this problem. After hooking up my buddies new dish (bev dish and lnbs) I proceeded to set up the reciever. As soon as I plug in the wire from the Lnb( about 30ft cable from dish) the viewsat turns off....no display at all. You can see it flicker on the front as you are screwing in the dish wire....If i pull the cable out again the Viewsat display comes back on. All connections are tight and in the proper location. anyone have any clue on how to fix this? any help greatly appriciated!

You have a shorted wire or bad LNB causing a ground..I had this problem with a Magnum(makes no diff as to receiver) and by process of elimination, it was easy to resolve.
Try another wire(it could be wire insulation touching something and grounding out). If you have no diseqc and the wire goes straight to the receiver, it should easy to isolate. If you used compression connectors, rip'em off and put new ones on. If not the wire, then replace the LNB.
In my case it was a bad wire between the LNB and diseqc switch.Good luck.

you are NEVER ever supost to connect the LNB while the receiver has power. IT is recomended to switch off the power with the switch next to the power cord when connecting the LNB.That will cause all kids of trouble mainly blow up the LNB...Mine was 100 bucks I sure done want to lose it that way....please go read up a little on how to set up a FTA receiver..

I think yo blown an SCR (Power transistor or diode) voltage regulator
Or undetectable coaxial short
I would connect to a near by simple setup 5 feet coax
If still problem take it a service center
Or troubleshoot faulty part yourself
