Oh by the way, c&p from SportsIllustrated:

NEW YORK (AP) -- New England coach Bill Belichick was fined the NFL maximum of $500,000 Thursday and the Patriots were ordered to pay $250,000 for spying on an opponent's defensive signals.

Commissioner Roger Goodell also ordered the team to give up next year's first-round draft choice if it reaches the playoffs and second- and third-round picks if it doesn't.

"This episode represents a calculated and deliberate attempt to avoid longstanding rules designed to encourage fair play and promote honest competition on the playing field," Goodell said in a letter to the Patriots.

The videotaping came to light after a camera was confiscated from Patriots video assistant Matt Estrella while he was on the New York Jets' sideline during New England's 38-14 win last Sunday at Giants Stadium. Goodell will not change the outcome of the game.

That "Matt" guy with the video, was probably paid by the Jets to look Stupid and get caught!....lol

U KNOW EVERY team in football tries to steal signals!...its just that the Pats got caught first.... and probably cause of the MORE money offered by the Jets, cause NY hates ALL Boston /NE teams...and the Jets got HAMMMERED....and "Matt" could probably use the cash.....

OK Red Sux fans listen up. I apologize. Not all of the Red Sux players are dim witted fools, I was proven wrong by Mike Lowell......

C & P Boston Herald:

While free agent-to-be Curt Schilling has expressed hesitancy playing for the Yankees next year, the same can't be said for Red Sox third baseman Mike Lowell. The 33-year-old, however, wants to make it clear that the idea of playing in New York has less to do with a potential opening or how much money might be offered and more to do with his history with the organization.

He's my hero! Money doesn't matter! What a great attitude!

Crash gives clash a football feel...
Posada survives run-in with Hinske at home plate

That was a helluva shot Posada took....thats why I think he "forgot" to tag Jacoby Ellsbury later at home plate...Posada's bell was still rung from Eric Hinske

Hinske, who at 6-feet-2 and 235 pounds is built like a linebacker, barreled into Posada, snapping Posada's head back. ...it reminded me of an old Dick Butkus shot!...LMAO...but I do give credit to Posada for not dropping the ball or being unconscious!

Tie?...LMAO...

Red Sox are 4 1/2 games ahead with 12 to go...and who cares 10-8, it doesn't matter..

BTW...I can't believe U are whining about the "damon" play.....we all saw it, we know he was safe....but there were many missed calls , especially at the plate with balls and strikes that could have altered the game...be happy the yanks won and quit the whining and posting irrelevant info, that doesn't matter...

BTW...I hope the yanks do get lucky enough to make the playoffs , then get lucky enough to beat the Angels....so the Sox can then have a piece of them ...nothing sweeter than beating the Yanks for the AL championship!

Yeah but it was so obvious that the announcers had to mention how the Angels feel that anytime you play in Boston things 'happen'. lol Even if the Yanks do reach the AL Championship game, there's no guarantee the Sux will be there.

By the way, is that an irrelevant pic from the irrelevant past? lol

Just stating facts...not bragging DURING a game....

oh the pic...yes thats when the SOX made MLB history to be the first team ever to come back from 3 games down and SWEEP the yankees in the AL 2004 championship game...its just showing how a team celebrates when winning a division or championship..

NTW...If U call "Joe Morgan", an announcer then U obvviously don't see how biased and a racist he is...him and Tim McCarver are no doubt, the 2 worse in baseball...and they both have always hated Boston...

I agree about McCarver, he's an idiot. Morgan does have some good comments though, well once in a while at least.

As far as irrelevant pics, every year the Yanks won the series from 1937 on, they were breaking their own MLB records for the most WS wins. And even though they lost some along the way, they are still breaking their own records for most appearances. I know you don't want me to post irrelevant pics about those milestones, that would take up this whole thread and then some.

A first grade teacher explains to her class that she is a Red Sox fan. She asks her students to raise their hands if they, too, are Red Sox fans.

Everyone in the class raises their hand expect one little girl. The teacher looks at the girl with surprise and says, "Janie, why didn't you raise your hand?"

"Because I'm not a Red Sox fan," she replied.

The teacher, still shocked, asked, "Well, if you are not a Red Sox fan, then who are you a fan of?"

"I am a Yankees fan, and proud of it," Janie replied.

The teacher could not believe her ears. "Janie, why pray tell are you a Yankees fan?"

"Because my mom is a Yankees fan, and my dad is Yankees fan, so I'm a Yankees fan too!"

"Well," said the teacher in a obviously annoyed tone, "That is no reason for you to be a Yankees fan. You don't have to be just like your parents all of the time. What if your mom were a moron and your dad were a moron,
what would you be then?"

"Then," Janie smiled, "I'd be a Red Sox fan."

A Sox fan and a Priest are driving down the road...
There was Red Sox fan who was feeling pretty down on himself. For whenever saw a Yankee fan in their obnoxious pinstripe jerseys walking down the road, he would swerve and pretend to hit them.

As the man is driving on he sees a Priest walking down the road. Feeling he should do something good, he stops next to the priest.

"Where are you heading Father, can I give you a lift?"

The priest replied, "I'm heading to the Mass two miles down the road."

As they're driving along the man sees a Yankee fan walking down the road, instinctively, he swerves to hit them. He knows he did not hit them, but still hears a loud THUMP.

He says, "I'm sorry Father, I should not have tried to hit that Yankee fan."

"That's ok," replied the priest, "I got him with the door."

Bill and Hillary are at the Yankee season opener sitting in the first
row, with the Secret Service agents directly behind them.
>
One of the Secret Service guys leans forward and whispers something to
Bill.
>
At first, Clinton stares at the guy, looks at Hillary, looks back at the
agent, and shakes his head.
>
The agent then says, "Mr. President, it was at the unanimous request of
the entire team, from the owner on down to the bat boy."
>
Bill hesitates...but begins to change his mind when the agent tells him
the fans would love it!
>
Bill shrugs his shoulders and says, "Okay, if that's what the people
want." With that, Bill gets up, grabs Hillary by her collar and the
ample seat of her pants, lifts her up, and tosses her right over the
wall onto the field.
>
She gets up kicking, swearing, screaming, "I'll kill you! You
>@#$!&&&&&&&&*%$%**!!!..
>
The crowd goes absolutely wild. Fans are jumping up & down, cheering,
hooting & hollering, and high-fiving.
>
> Bill is bowing, smiling and waving to the crowd. He leans over to the
agent and says, "How about that! I would have never believed how much
everyone would enjoy that!"

Noticing his agent has gone totally pale, he asks what is wrong.

Question to my beloved Blue Jays...Where were you when it counted in May/June?
After being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs they are sweeping their division rivals Red Sox and beating Yanks in tough extra inning games in their house.

Might be to celebrate the rise of the Canadian dollar which is now at par with the US greenback..So they are now playing at par (or better) finally :-)

hopefully they can get it together earlier and faster next year because they have tremendous young talent that they cant afford to waste.

But they've got to make some changes in the offseason like clean up their bullpen, get a solid shortstop or third basemen and most importantly, FIND A NEW (bleepin) MANAGER!

Yankees take a stumbling step toward playoffs
The Yankees fell two games behind the idle Red Sox in the AL East with a loss (4-1) to the Jays, but reduced their magic number to clinch a playoff spot to one after a loss by the Tigers.

Toronto pitcher, was emergency fill-in Jesse Litsch, was pressed into action when scheduled starter A.J. Burnett was scratched due to personal reasons. A former Devil Rays batboy, the Toronto rookie held the Yankees in check through 7 2/3 innings of one-run, five-hit ball, keeping New York off balance with an array of offspeed pitches.

The Yankees, who drew a franchise record 4,271,356 fans to the Bronx in 2007, played their final game in front of more than 30,000 empty seats, a rare event for a club that sold out 50 home dates. New York nevertheless reduced its magic number for clinching a playoff berth to one with the Tigers' loss to the Twins on Monday night.

If the Yankees clinch the playoffs, they will do so on the road. Dressing their rookies as characters from "The Wizard of Oz," the Yankees followed Monday's game by traveling to Tampa, where they will play a three-game series against the Devil Rays before finishing the regular season in Baltimore.

"You have to clinch the Wild Card before you can think about the division," Torre said. "That's where we are right now. I don't sense that anybody is looking past what we need to do."

Yanks Sputter? LOL! They are 14 and 4 for the last 18 games!! Any team would wish they could sputter like that!
Jays not far from being REAL good?? They swept the Sux, are the Sux real good? I think the Jays gave the Yanks a good series where nothing came easy. Should benefit the Yanks down the road.

C & P from SI

The New York Yankees clinched their 13th straight postseason appearance, beating the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 12-4 Wednesday night to assure themselves of at least a wild-card berth in the playoffs.

The victory, New York's 15th in 20 games, eliminated defending AL champion Detroit from postseason contention and set up a probable first-round matchup with Cleveland, the Central champion.

New York, just 21-29 before play on May 30, went 70-38 after that. The Yankees, who hugged each other on the field and in the dugout following the final out, have made the playoffs every year since 1995, and their streak of 13 consecutive trips is one shy of the record set by the Atlanta Braves from 1991-2005.

Not too shabby!

After Sox won I switched over to the masacre on MASN. I have to admit the Yankees are special. Rivera and the rest of those slobs figured out a way to CHOKE big time with a 3 run lead and 2 out in the ninth. "there is a God".....Now let's hear it Yankee Fans: WAH WAH WAH!!! but we had the best team back in 1920 something....back in 1960 something we won BLAH! BLAH! Ya!! Right!!

BOSTON -- The Red Sox erased another October question mark in the season's penultimate game. Red-hot J.D. Drew made the emphatic statement on Saturday night, carrying Boston to a 6-4 victory over the Twins.
In the process, the Red Sox took care of some other last-minute business. With a win and an Indians loss in Kansas City, the Red Sox ensured themselves the best record in the American League and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Even if Cleveland pulls even on Sunday, Boston, which beat the Indians in five of seven games this season, would hold the tiebreaker.

Thus, the Sox also won the privilege of picking Division Series schedule B, which will give them a day off between Games 1 and 2. The ALDS will open on Wednesday at Fenway Park and resume on Friday.

Rockies' wild rally sinks Padres, ices playoff spot....

-- Colorado Rockies teammates Matt Holliday and Todd Helton didn't talk about it much, the fact that Helton, a decorated 10-year veteran and career Rockie, never had reached the postseason.
"We all knew," Holliday said after scoring the winning run in Monday's 9-8 National League wild-card tiebreaker win against the San Diego Padres to send Colorado into the playoffs. "It was like the elephant in the corner."

GAME REPORT: Rockies 9, Padres 8 (13 inn.)

When they talk about it now, it will only be in the past tense. Helton's wait is over, thanks to Holliday's gritty slide into home plate after Jamey Carroll sent a sacrifice fly to right field to break an 8-8 tie in the 13th inning Monday.

"This is just pure happiness right now," said Carroll, a utility player who came in as a pinch runner for Garrett Atkins in the seventh and stayed to play third.

After a Scott Hairston two-run homer in the top of the inning put the Padres ahead, the Rockies had to rally against all-time saves leader Trevor Hoffman. Leadoff hitter Kazuo Matsui and Troy Tulowitzki kicked off the rally with doubles, and Holliday drove in the tying run with a triple.

The Arizona Diamondbacks finished off their overpowering sweep of the NL Division Series on Saturday night. They did it with a convincing 5-1 scrunching of the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

The Rockies have made it to the NLCS for the first time in franchise history.
The Colorado Rockies roared into the NL championship series Saturday night, completing a three-game playoff sweep by beating Philadelphia 2-1 on pinch-hitter Jeff Baker's tiebreaking single with two outs in the eighth inning. Colorado's 17th win in 18 games was fueled by Jimenez, the hard-throwing 23-year-old who allowed one run and three hits over 6 1-3 innings during a pitchers' duel at Coors Field, of all places.

ROCKIES IN ARIZONA FOR THE NL CHAMPIONSHIP, THURSDAY 11 OCTOBER...

and the whine of the day is..now just need some Yankee cheese!

If Roger Clemens had been making the call, the New York Yankees really would have bugged out.

Clemens viewed Friday night's insect invasion at Cleveland's Jacobs Field from both the dugout and a television in the clubhouse, and he concluded it was too distracting an environment to pitch in.

"I would have probably pulled us off the field," Clemens said Saturday at Yankee Stadium.

Yankees rookie Joba Chamberlain was covered with the midges, an insect related to mosquitoes. He threw a pair of wild pitches that allowed the tying run to score in the eighth, and Cleveland went on to win 2-1 in 11 innings and take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

"I think it's hard enough for our young kids to go out there and concentrate in that situation to have something like that happen," said Clemens, the Yankees' Game 3 starter for Sunday.

LK you are being much to generous by saying that the Yankees SUCK........They were outscored in the series 15-3. Their hitting and pitching blow, they can't play under pressure and their manager is terrible. Oh!! their fans are the worst in baseball!! It will be fun watching Georgies reaction this week. Yuh! like double the players pay checks. They still will not be able to play ball in October. The curse is reversed!!!Upload

CP from NY Times: This is a NY fan!!:
Steinbrenner is a media chaser and he attracts coaches and players who want a big paycheck. They could care less about the city. The Yankees are not a baseball club, they're sports entertainment for people who don't even know how to wear a baseball cap the right way. He's the reason why MLB is about dollars and cents; and Yankees fans are chumps if you think otherwise.
