Bronze Member Username: Reach_honeyPost Number: 45 Registered: Mar-05 | Guys, My this new home is centralized cable and I want to used both that is Dish network receiver and my fortec receiver. Where I don't have to manually take out cable from one and remove from other. What is the best option I can used. Do I need splitter(I heard that splitter does not work as these are high frequency signals) or Do i need switch? I need something where myinput cable from Dish remains connected and without removing manually cable from input to receiver I can just swicth from one to another or in case of splitter i don;t have to even do that. Can any one help on these? |

Bronze Member Username: Reach_honeyPost Number: 46 Registered: Mar-05 | King Tapeman, So what you are syaing is I can connect one end of Diplexer Input(which comes from my Dish). This will result in two output from Diplexer. One output will go into M DISH Receiver and other output will go into my Fortec REceiver. Is that right? |
Silver Member Username: Donnie1973Post Number: 826 Registered: May-06 | u can do that but one will have to be off to watch the other of course. |
Bronze Member Username: Reach_honeyPost Number: 47 Registered: Mar-05 | As long as I do not have to take cable out manually and just shut down one of a receiver. I'm perfectly OK. Is that what the thumb rule is...? |
Silver Member Username: Donnie1973Post Number: 827 Registered: May-06 | right. as easy as it sounds |
Gold Member Username: TapemanNew York City in-HD, NY Post Number: 1449 Registered: Oct-06 | No Diplexer has 3 coax connections - One Diplexer combines Satellite with cable TV to one wire - A second Diplexer splits the two apart - List me total number of rooms - Do yo have cable and satellite? - Do yo just want to split signal of one receiver? - Try as much as yo can to give me a list |
Bronze Member Username: Reach_honeyPost Number: 48 Registered: Mar-05 | I have just have one one receiver which can work for 2 rooms. I have satellite . No i have only one cable coming in from the socket as it is centralized. I bought the diplexer and had one connection into diplexer input(Which comes from dish into my home). That has now 2 output . I used one output into my dish receiver and other into fortec ultra. Now Forect ultra does not work and it gets very poor signal I think it is wasted of money Any help |
Gold Member Username: TapemanNew York City in-HD, NY Post Number: 1521 Registered: Oct-06 | Yo can't use Diplexer for 2 receivers To use 2 receiver your LNB must have 2 outlets One to ech receiver You may want to upgrade your fortec to Pansat 2700 Diplexer is to share Cable TV service with satellite Do yo have cable TV service? Or just central wirring? |
Platinum Member Username: LklivesPost Number: 12400 Registered: Jan-06 | Diplexer is NOT only for cable TV Yes U wil need a DUAL LNB (has 2 outlets for 2 cables) for 2 receivers...If U subscribe to DN , then they will install Dish Pro Plus setup and U can easily get BOTH DN receiver and FTA, from that... |
Gold Member Username: Donnie1973Post Number: 1006 Registered: May-06 | or use a regular splitter, in from sat. two outs to two different recievers. One will work at a time. Thats what I was telling her. Quick fix "As long as I do not have to take cable out manually and just shut down one of a receiver. I'm perfectly OK. Is that what the thumb rule is...?" |
Platinum Member Username: LklivesPost Number: 12412 Registered: Jan-06 | A "regular splitter" does just that...splits the SAME signal to 2 TV's....but NOT to 2 different recievers and does NOT combine 2 different signals.. Kavins reply with the AB switch was absolutely correct when using 2 different type receivers...I dunno why Tapeman , confused a very simple issue.. |
Gold Member Username: Donnie1973Post Number: 1007 Registered: May-06 | it sure will... I have a friends set up EXACTLY as I told her. I only had a dual LNB. One goes into his house to living room. Other goes to new garage, into a splitter, out from that splitter to dn reciever downstairs, and out to upstairs pancrap. Turn power off to pansat... watch dn reciever. Turn off dn reciever... watch pancrap. |
Gold Member Username: Donnie1973Post Number: 1009 Registered: May-06 | And actually, u CAN combine two sgnals with a splitter, (all I have tried anyway)just hook it up backwards. I hooked up a DVD player and cable tv using one. |
Bronze Member Username: Reach_honeyPost Number: 49 Registered: Mar-05 | So what you guys are saying that I need splitter instead of diplexer. Ccable which comes into house should go into that Splitter input and then for two output from splitter, One will go into Dish receiver and other into my Fortec.? In order to watch this.I need to turn off one in order to watch anything..... |
Platinum Member Username: LklivesPost Number: 12425 Registered: Jan-06 | I'm saying , use a simple A/B switch...leave BOTH ON...when U want DN, then turn it to A...then B for FTA... |
Gold Member Username: Donnie1973Post Number: 1055 Registered: May-06 | yes honey, that will work for sure. LK's will too, just whichever u feel most confortable with... |
