What is the best satellite system?

I am a total newbie to programming these things, although I have had a system for years. I am using a Vortex and a dss right now, although having problems with the dss. I am just wondering if there is a good system that is more dependable than these. I know they all are subject to downs, but can anyone recommend a new system that is good? I haven't a clue of what to buy if I wanted to get another one!

Thanks

Oh thanks for answering so fast! I'm not in Canada and I really don't know where to go to buy the cw600p. Could you steer me to a site that sells them online?
And also on the cw....when I get it do you get the support on this forum like you seem to do for the keys and all that?
I admit I'm not blonde, but I do have my blonde moments and I want to be sure I can manage the technical stuff to get this going!

you can get it from one of LK list of sites this is one Buy from www.globalwholesalers.biz ..and NO clones!

They are VERY reputable and sponsors at many DSS site forums and you can get help at this site for that box and others

Since most computers now are ONLY USB, I recommend a Sonicview 4000 ($159) or a Viewsat Ultra...no cables or need to disconnect receiver and bring it to the computer..

Wow you guys make it very easy to see who pushes what out there! LOL, for my opinion I would go with Bruce and the CW, I have a Magnum. And did have an SV and a VS, yah sure the pic quality is a little better on these models and they have USB, but for bang for your buck, ease of use and support, the CW600P takes the cake everytime! The CW800 PVR model when it comes out will be the box to watch!

what good is a FTA receiver (CW or any) if U can't connect it to a computer?....U cannot always be guaranted that U can find a compatable USB adapter for your puter and CW...and who wants to disconnect cables and move the receiver every time u want to upload a file...I sure as hell don't...especially to save just a 1 time initial $50...I'll gladly pay the extra $50 to have USB and a WORKING receiver that I can simply upgrade!

Well, I am not so keen on having to hook the receiver to the computer everytime I need to upload either. (And why do you need to upload? Told you I was a newbie!) I went to the globalwholesalers site and found the ViewSat for $174, on sale, and free shipping. I don't see that this would be a bad deal at all. Esp when the person who does this kind of work around here is charging $250.

What I'm wondering is if with the Viewsat you can just enter the numbers like you do with the Vortex? I do have the Vortex working, but I'm not happy with the guide at all. I have a Dish 311 and it works maybe a few minutes at a time when you turn it on. I love the guide it has.

I wonder how the ViewSat compares with the Dish?
Maybe I'm just too picky! LOL At least my Vortex is still workable! but I'm thinking of the future....and what if, you know?

Well, probably my best bet is if I'm gonna get the box to have someone put the files in it. Or just go ahead and pay the $250 already done, then. What kind of files do you have to put in it and how do you put them in? Do you need to have it hooked to a computer?

With the Sonicview 4000 or Viewsat Ultra...U simply download the latest file into a USB stick and then take the stick to the receiver and upload the receiver...its VERY simple...no need to pay anybody...and the latest files are posted FREE everywhere...If U read for 1 day solid...U will have it down pat...

www.totalfta.com has all the latest files ...and manuals, info and guides U need to read...hardest thing to do is align the dish, but since U already have one from Dishnet, then U are all set...and the Vortex is harder to use than the Sonicview 4000 ($159) or the Viewsat Ultra ...and the pic quality and channel changing is much faster than the Vortex...

Wholesalers is a reputable site although it took them over a week to send me the sv 8000hd and I am still waiting for hmdi cable, sat tuner, flash card, and inline amp that comes with the package. If you try calling you can't leave a message because it is full. I finally got a hold of someone who said the rest of my order was on its way but I'm still waiting (three and a half weeks now). I just hate that the box has dropped 50 bucks and I still dont have everything. I had to break down and bought a flash card so I could watch tv.
