The veterans want to help the newbies, and to "pay back" what they have learned in this hobby, to keep it going...BUT, we don't want to SPOON FEED lazy people who won't take the time to read for 1-2 days, and ONLY ask very BASIC redundant questions over and over.. its like this...a 20 year old man has a flat tire and a spare with the jack, sitting on the side of the road....waiting for somebody else to come by and change the tire for him...well, thats not gonna happen with me..he can sit there and wait all day long! I'm willing to help anybody who demonstates to me that they have at least READ and tried first themselves... Newbies should read FIRST, all the info is here or at the many DSS sites on the net...we even have links here to the other sites that have every manual, video and guide for every receiver! Heres an example...there are links here to key finders and utilities and keysites, but EVERY thread here, MANY newbies asks "whats the new keys"?...and they they post DIRECTLY after someone JUST posted them!...they shouldn't even be asking, nevermind the fact that they didn't read 1/4 inch above in the previous post! MOST (not all) newbies DEMAND and EXPECT to be spoon fed now...I see it everywhere (not just here), and with every hobby...unfortunately there is a new young generation, that is very LAZY....I know us older guys heard that from our parents, but its really true now!...I think computers and new electonic equipment are great but have changed generations into very lazy people...  |

New member Username: Jaye50Post Number: 9 Registered: Aug-07 | when i first got into this.....been about a year now....i spent three solid days....not hours....days trying to find out where to go in my flu menu to input the keys.....first i tried searching on my own.....reading the answers given to others with the same problem.....the answers they recieved weren't really answers but leads to links that were supposed to contain the answer.....sufice to say.....just about all lead to the same link.....or links that got their info from the same source.....all were wrong.... after about three days of trying i broke down and asked myself....trying to explain that the sources on the web were incorrect.....i got some answers among the many insults i recieved....but all were the same answer i had seen others recieve and all....wrong.....i went back to searching...after a couple of days.....i lucked upon the answer..... the point i'm trying to make is that this stuff isn't easy.....and many of the people that are well versed in it have a serious elitist attitude.....this should be a community of sharing.....with the strong helping the weak....with them in turn becoming strong and helping those that come after them.....but it's not.....it's a community with the strong looking down on the weak and feeling superior at their expense..... don't get me wrong.....there are many....many people out here that would bend over double backwards to help anyone.....but there are also a hell of a lot of those that really get off on the superior feelings and laughing at how dumb the rest of us are..... and i admit....there are really some morons out there that really have no business with a fta at all.....i also get irritated with the people that constantly ask for keys.....especially when the sources for them are well known.....and i understand the bandwidth concerns.....but there's still no need to talk to people like they're less than people..... how bout this.....someone asks a question that you think is dumb as hell....instead of being a jackass.....how bout just not answering it.... |

BUT all i gotta ask is who is right and what info is best ? I am not saying there isn't any good info but allot of BSer post also and some don't really know what they are talking about according to some others in this forum .. So my advice to any newbies read allot of info files and read me' file download anything about your receiver or receivers (if you have more that one kind) and go to other sites as mentioned in this forum. Don't stick to this forum if all you want is "HELP" BTW i was not bashing i was stating fact! |
