There are very critical issues, such as what is the focal length of the lamp, what are the voltage and current requirements, both at initial start-up and at run? These vary from lamp model to lamp model. Putting a lamp in with the wrong voltage/current requirements can kill your high/voltage power supply and there goes your cost savings.
