Bronze Member Username: RcfiddlermanPost Number: 32 Registered: Sep-06 | hello everyone,got a question for yah i bought a used computer for my neice and its locked, it says administrator for the user and i dont have the password, the computer is a emachine brand with windows 2000 for the operating system i dont know anymore cause i cant get in sorry lol i tried to use control-break, then i tried shift -break then tried break f5 nothing ,i found these all on a internet site nothing worked so i figured hey i get good info for my sat here why not try the computer question here i would go to a computersite like this but i dont know a thing other than click, read,click, readsome more,i am not computer oriented, any how thanx in advance |

Bronze Member Username: RcfiddlermanPost Number: 34 Registered: Sep-06 | allright still cant get it i push f8 then im told its in safe mode then i use the option, safe mode with command prompt,after this is done it asks me which operating system i want to use it only gives me one choice which is windows 2000,i choose it, then iam back to square one, go figure, i tried the generic passwords, no good im sure there is a way but i dont know thanx in advance if u have the answer, oh and yeah god bless free tv and big screens, lol peace out! |

Bronze Member Username: Bill038Post Number: 66 Registered: Sep-06 | With 2000, even if you get into dos you will need the password. 2000 is different that the rest of the os's. If you have a floppy drive on the machine go to http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm and get the free program and this should let you get your password back. Good luck |

Bronze Member Username: Bill038Post Number: 67 Registered: Sep-06 | The other way is to stick the Windows 2000 boot CD into it and then hit f10 (I think) after the first screen pops up. That will put you into the recovery console (stripped down dos box). |
