I took a Viesat Xtreme to work to test its resolution, sharpness and color. I tested its Coax and RCA (Y/W/R). Poor sharpness and terrible contrast. Pre-amps and hardware lowest quality I have ever seen. Usually SD 4:3 pixel for NTSC should be 720x480. They are at least 30% short of that. It must of cost $25 to $30 USD tops.
Color Burst totally off Color balance, Hue and saturation all over the place. so final Default color calibration needs help:
Well King comes to rescue anyone in need TRY THIS: - Press (color button) on remote - Change default to user
- Sat Cb = 64 - Sat Cr = 100 - Sharp = 000 - Bright = 49 - Contrast=59
This will allow you only to improve (Y/W/R) or Coaxial output Yo won't find too much improvement unless you try as many as channels as possible, then yo'll see 20% over all color improvements.
And King, what are you using as a test equipment and or test standard ? Doesn't the tv itself and it's vidieo calibration/ settings make a big difference too ?Crappy tv=crappy picture.I have read many posts about the VS internal components being substandard ,but my ultra seems to be the abnorm here.So far no complaints on anything with it.
Actually this is a good question My remote is like this With color button where the arrow is
But if you have either one of these remotes I don't know where is the color feature. It might be within other feature menus under color balance, Hue and Saturation etc.
some has help for the color. by the way the ultra is just little better than the extr but i found both stinksssss with some channel it's great but in general there are not what they said it would be
