Not only I think it is a bad HD receiver
I don't think it is capable of MPEG-4 1080i (8psk bit rate)
When devices say output 1080i most likely it is 720p with an upscale to 1080i output.
If it doesn't say 8*PSK leave it alone don't even think about it

Don't get dupped
If Captvi*eworks start to sell MPEG-4 8PSK then it is the one you get.
RIGHT NOW NOTHING TO BUY.

I do think by the end of this year they'll get it right

BE*V and DT*V they lower their resolution to save bandwidth where as D*N is the only true 1080*i MPEG*-4 8*PSK

Virtually when they lower their resolution to fit more bandwidth they will claim "WE OFFER MORE HD BROADCAST THAN ANY PROVIDER."

They think consumer would never detect resolution since they can't measure it.

Thank god there is King Tapeman always looking for the best intrest of consumer.
I detect the resolution by just looking at it. "I do this for a living"
I don't hack I don't need to

D*N and Cable on the other hand at present time got true 1080i. 1920x1080i where available.

I hope this is a helpful tip to all my fellow FTA users to know what is out there.

-Sonicview and Viewsat HD...They will both do Mpeg 4 channels as well with 1080i resolution.

-To get HD channels On DN you need to get 8psk module and adpator..If you are using the Sonicview 8000HD without the adapters. The only HD channels you can see will be on BEV !!!! This goes for Viewsat HD as well...

You are right McCsunny
I'm just saying make sure you buy an HD receiver that can handle 8*PSK

8PSK (bit rate) is the new broadcast standards for MPEG-4

I'm guessing that 82 is Q*PSK MPEG*-2 1080x720p
DTV has been all along Q*PSK but not MPEG-2 and it is 1080x720p
Lowest HD Broadcast considered 1080x720p

I say guess cuz you can't measure it
I'm 100% certain BE*V and DT*V are not 1080i
Only D*N is 1080i

Scanner if you load 82 lineup (fuzzy picture)
Cuz they are MPEG-2 720p
Many TIVOs and DVR they record HD in MPEG-2

Only Toshiba and Sony got limited MPEG-4 recorders and they are 2 different formats
It is a bit complicated out there for HD consumer

Listen to me don't buy it yet

It is the other way around
Yes to Your post# 1832
"when I scan echo 5/t7@129w I don't see a hd channel line up, but when I scan nimiq 2 @82w I can load the hd channel lineup?"

I don't think you can load MPEG-4 with MPEG-2 coders.
If you can load any channels with MPEG-2 coders cuz they are in MPEG-2
They could be MPEG-2 1080x720p (considered to be HD but low end)

You can't load D*TV QPSK cuz they are not MPEG-2
If You can't load MPEG-4 cuz receiver is not capable of MPEG-4

What McCsunny says with an extra module you can get D*N MPEG-4 8*PSK 1080i. I do think it makes perfect sense but I still think if an HD receiver need extra hardware to decode MPEG-4 cuz it was never capable of it in first place. They can misslead by saying MPEG-4 accelarator or 1080i output.

What I say don't buy any HD receiver that doesn't have:
MPEG-*4 8*PSK 1080i DECODER
If it doesn't say that chances that it is not
If you want to buy extra modules to be able to get true HD 1080i broadcat I say it is cheaper to subscribe to get limited HD broadcast.

You shouldn't have to pay extra money to make HD receivers decode HD Broadcast.
Known as "Inferior receivers"

are there any receivers that are true hd with no needed hardware out there. What are they?

I been reading bout the hd receivers and been getting different outputs.

I only want DN programs. What satellites do i point to?

How many channels is DN offering in HD?

Only BEV for a limited time

DN, as far as I know you can't:
Not without additional hardware
8PSK MPEG-4 Decoder Module about $250 off e-bay

What I'll do is:
- Wait
- Get an HD antenna
- Or Subscribe
It is a lot cheaper to subscribe than to own of these expensive and inferior receivers.
- Not all channels in HD/24 hours at present time.

For low cost HD/digital antennas click here:
